Hi,  I,m brand new to this forum and trying to fumble my way around it. (so please be gentle with me if I don't do something correct)  I have been reading all of the member posts for some time and gleaning a ton of info from it, but now I have a question that I can't find already answered in the posts.... I am restoring my '71 Charger R/T 440 4bbl auto w/air. It is a # matching car so I am trying to be as faithful to original as my limited $ will provide. When I bought the car it had a Holly 4 bbl on it, I have since obtained the correct Carter AVS  4968S for it. The problem I'm having is that the choke pull off housing that is currently installed raises up too high, hits the linkage and won't allow the carb to be bolted down without a spacer plate installed to elevate the carb. I would like to find out if anyone can post some pic's of the PROPER set-up weather it be a different choke pull off or a spacer block under the carb. I can post a picture of what I'm talking about if I can figure out how to lower the properties of my pic's so they can be attached. Maybe when my son is here he can show me how to do it, I'm just proud I figured out how to register and post on this forum! This computer stuff gets kinda confusing :scratchchin: for me sometimes.

Does this work?

I think you have your terms confused, the mechanism that sits in the manifold is the choke thermostat not the choke pull-off.

This is what the pull-off looks like:

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Sorry, I've always called it the choke pull off because it pulls the choke off as the thermostatic spring inside heats up. Anyway.... does anybody have an answer on which is correct.. Spacer or different "thermostat"?
