Apparently this couple went to a garage sale for this place where this old guy passed away recently and they purchased a couple of thermoses there. When they got home they opened them and found that there was a roll of 50 dollar bills in each thermos totalling 10,000 dollars
But they brought it all back to the garage sale house and gave it back to the sister of the guy who dies (who was holding the garage sale) and gave it all back. The sister almost collaps in disbelief because she had no idea how she was going to pay for the old guys wife who she had to put into a home after her husbands death because she was too old to take care of her.

Very cool story huh.

The guy's widow was put in an assisted living home and the money will go to support the cause. In the end there are more important things out there than money....

if you are just going to give them 200 than don't give them anything at all. I would probably just keep what I payed for the thermoses depending on how much I payed for them... Cool story though really honorable people wish there would be more like them around...

My mom actually had a good point. If they were selling something like a theromas, you'd think the sellers would check it to make sure its clean or no moldy before selling it. And you would also think the buyers would do the same thing before buying it

It looked like the thermoses were brand new by the look of them. Still had a price tag on them from the store. The lady probably thought they were never used and just wanted to sell um. The people who bought them probably saw the original price tags and just though...cool! a set of brand new thermoses. Lets buy um.

Either way. Very cool and honorable people who brought them back. thats for sure.

I guess you're still missing the boat. A man put away money for his family, retirment, or what have you. I'm sure it took a long time to save and he had plans with the money. If he suddenly died and didn't tell anyone then its not an issue of finders keepers. It's called "doing the right thing" ... and I don't mean putting the rest of the money towards your charger. When you work for a living and have obligations then it may start to click in.

Well, Id do what a normal kid would do, give back half, well actually...a normal kid would probally keep all of it lol. But if I was older and I found it, I would probally give it all back

One of these days, when you grow up and mature, you'll learn about money.  How you make it, how you spend it and how you save it - most of all, you'll learn to respect it.  Then one day you just might lose your wallet with your last $60.00 and some schmuck like you will pocket the cash and throw your wallet in the creek.  Someone will find it and get it back to you.  Then think back to your initial thought here and you'll be able to say to yourself - I deserved that.

It's actually close to the real story in the only fact that he gave her half his winnings.  The police detective who frequented the pizzaria(Sal's I believe) Did agree to offer her half the winnings but it's because she picked 3 of the numbers, not because he forgot his wallet for a tip.  They each picked numbers, he went across the street, bought the ticket, and the next night he honored the deal. Obviously the movie version is a much better story though.

For the record, I would have given the money back in a heartbeat, no question!

Lets see, go to a garage sale of a person that recently passed away. Find 10,000$ in some theromas hmmm to give back or not. Yea I'd be giving it back. As much as I want a Charger I couldn't use that money when someone else needs it more then me, let alone the fact the money isn't even mine. Couldn't imagine trying to pay funeral costs and nursing home costs these days.

  I just went to walmart and bought a thermos, then I got 10 grand from under my mattress (money found from the db cooper heist) and tried to stuff it in the thermos.  It turns out 10 grand will not fit!!!!!!!!  I was only able to stick in $7,400 in one hundred dollar bills.  If you don't believe me chargerpunk took the pics and is developing it at the pharmacy store.

But they found fifty's not hundreds so it would take twice as many, so who knows.
Or mabey a couple of thermoses means more then two.

As said before alot of older people dont trust the bank.

My grandpa and grandma dont believe in the bank or credit cards.

All the cash and US savings bonds are in a safe in the house.

I saw it opened once and suspect there to be well over $100,000.



The thermos seems silly, but dont doubt it for a second.

And no Bronze Im not telling you where they live.
