Is it just me, or is the Classsified section of this board supposed to be for board members, NOT for "Look what I found on Craigslist" or "Look what I found in last week's paper" or "Not my car", etc., etc., etc.??? I'm pretty sure we can all look in those places ourselves and when one of us has a legit ad, it gets lost amongst all that other crap.

I think its great when others post cars for sale that they find locally.  Everyone cant read every ad around the world all the time.  I posted a local craigslist ad I found a while back on the Iowa craigslist and a fellow board member from Sweden bought the car.  He was very grateful that I posted the ad, otherwise he would not have his new 69 Charger.   :Twocents:

i appreciate the people who take the time to post those ads because on sunday i just happened to click on one of them and there was a 69 charger listed about an hour away from my house and i called the guy up and asked if i could come look at it....so i am going to go check it out either friday or monday....$2900 ill bring $3000 with me (pay for gas cuz friends drivin cuz my piece of shit's tranny went out) and if its in an acceptable shape for that price im taking it. So thanks to whoever keeps posting those!!

I have to disagree with you, dude. Back when I was looking for my car I would have loved being able to come to one website and find several Chargers to choose from. Not that every Charger for sale in the US is listed here but the good thing about craigslist is that people who advertise there are typically willing to give you a much better deal than what you'd find on the national ads or Ebay. I see it as more of an asset than a problem.

Drache

The ones that list ads in their local papers are helpful as well since not EVERYONE can go and read a paper/classified from every town. Some people who sell cars dont have or dont understand the internet and so only sell by newspaper.

I went one further a couple of times. Actually three times that I can think of. Once I found a '69 318 Charger that had been sitting (and sitting, and sitting) for years beside a house here in Portland, Oregon. I finally went up and asked the people about it and the lady said she wanted $12k for it. :o I went back three or four times and every time I worked toward convincing her that it was not worth $12k. I finally got her down to about $5k and then some guy from Nevada bought it from her for a little less than that after I advertised it for sale on the old board (I'd sure like an update on that car BTW, so if you bought a '69 Charger in Portland when you lived in Nevada, please let me know).

Another time I test drove a '69 with a 340 engine and although I didn't want the car (had to have a '68) I advertised it for sale here.

Still one other time I went and looked at a '70 for another member of this board that was for sale locally and helped him made a decision about buying it.

Countless other times I have passed along ads for Chargers for sale locally and parts too, just because I know how hard it is sometimes for people to find this stuff anymore.

Nah, I think it's a bad idea to discourage 'community' on this forum.

Getting sick of overpriced cars on Ebay, I for one appreciate ANY links to what could be an honest deal. Craigslist, newspapers, whatever...keep bringing the ads on! If you think your ad is getting 'lost', just keep bumping it up.

I think you're talking about me. I keep posting these deals because I wanna help out members on this board to get a charger. The last cars I found I put in a single post in order to keep the classifieds section "clean". If this is such a big deal then why not ask Troy to open up a new section for Charger ads online - just like the ebay section?

It's hard to find a decent deal on a Charger these days and most people appreciate that I post the ads.

I don't mind a Post about a Charger or any Mopar for that matter but what I don't like is when a GM or Ford ad is posted. There are plenty of websites out there for those.

Who could possibly have a problem with anyone posting links of local add's for Chargers here...

I'm from Europe and searching a Charger/ Mopar now, so i don't have the opportunity to go to the local 7/11 and grab a bunch of local advertising magazines and i also can't search the newspapers.
Internet is the only thing i have on this... and i like it very much that there are people here who want to share their findings upon the board here.

So far i have not seen anyone posting add's of Chevy's or Rustangs. So for as far as i'm concerned keep posting guys
Greetings from Belgium, the beer country

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

ramit

I appreciate all of the ad postings.  The only problem I have is that it makes it that much harder for me to get a deal on a car when a bunch of this forums members are after the same car. ;D

I agree, i like it when people post chargers that are for sale from other sites that i don't know about.  THe only complaint is when the link doesn't work.

Y'all make good points, so I stand corrected!

...but why can't I ever find those deals around HERE???

hemihead

Don't feel bad, there are no deals here in SW Pa either ( unless you look for them). It's the Mopar wasteland here  :yesnod:
