I cant stand the sound of the old Seat Belt and Headlight buzzers.  I think its a neat feature that I wouldnt mind keeping but the sound is terrible.  Has anyone tried to hook in a buzzer from a newer car that maybe sounds a little better?  I have them both unplugged now because they drove me insane...

you can try tu TUNE UP the buzzers LOL... I'm serious, and will sound lower and fine ;), just bending the tabs points inside.

anyway, probably yes you could get some modern car buzzer, like 80s GMs that are kinda intermitent tones... I don't know how they are but for a while just need positive and  negative feed you will be able to plug them.

Any kind of buzzer or tone that needs 12 Volts + and - will work

BTW they sound terrible with just that purpouse, to REMIND you in a hard way LOL. I like them, plus because on 74 is an only one buzzer that sound the same to all warning signals, so I never gets 3 buzzer sound at the same time LOL ( key, lights and seatbelts ). Is tipical the girls sit on bucket never fasten the seatbelt because they think are tedious. I tell them, ok then you will have to SUPPORT the buzzer more then me because is on you side of dash... they end fastening seatbelt... is nice how belt sits between their boobs :D :D :D.

Honestly I allways think on safety, not really about the boobs stuff :P

If they drove you insane is because YOU DON'T FASTEN YOUR SEATBELT THEN HUH!!! LOL.

Keep safe ;)

Haha sure its not because of the boobs.   :P ;)

I want to try one from another car.  I will customize one like you said and try, im sure I have extras anyway.  But I really think I would prefer something that sounded a little better.  I do wear my seatbelt when I drive the Charger.  Im not in the habit of putting it on though, which is why I do like the buzzer to remind me.  I just hate the noise of that one!!!  But mostly its just been annoying me while working on the car, because im not actually driving it, but its running so I get the buzzer.  Thats why I unplugged it.

74 is different one. For a while 71-73 use a different buzzer to every function located on different places and is controlled just for local sensors, 74 is JUST ONE SINGLE BUZZER administrated by the interlock control unit. Of course also use the local sensors, but not the same than earlies at least on seatbelts. For a while earliers have sensors on retractors, 74 use sensors on female buckle ans seats.

74 buzer is located and in fact is the same than JUST seatbelts earliers one ( when no lights one buzz option ), at very outer passenger side of dash frame. This one buzzs with seatbelts and key in for a while on 73 this one just buzzs with seatbelts and key in is the same horn relay, sharing functions.

on 74, when car is optioned with also lights on buzzer, then buzzer is different, is bigger but use same plug. I could say really 74s with no lights on buzzer function use a smaller buzer on same pig plug, just using part of plug terminals. You can get lights on buzzer just changing buzer to the full option one, since car is already wired and equipped to that.

pics:

Location of buzzer. Is a 73 dash pic. I used this pic to another purpouse, that's teh reason of the red arrows, but you can see buzzer attached

2nd pic... 71/73 seatbelt buzzer and 74 seatbelt and key in buzzer

3rd pic... 74 FULL OPTION buzzer, what includes the lights on buzzer function. Location is the same and is attached on same way than the whitey one. Both fits on same plug
