I saw some guys on ebay that say they'll rebuild a 69 charger for 22,000, has anyone heard of them and a good or bad experience?
"tunerdynamics" or these guys...

They build them on request in 3-4 weeks??? Rebuilt 383 with "Approximately 450 HP"??? I am not sure my idea of "redone" is the same as theirs but I can't see how they can "redo" all those things on the car with quality parts (including shipping!) and still hit that price. They are relatively close to me in Indiana so maybe I'll see if I can swing by for a visit.

They gotta be doing a "spray and pray" paint job for that price, and especially in that timeframe.  As with so many other things in life, you get what you pay for.

If they started with a completely rust-free Charger body, they might be able to get some thing close to a decent finished product, but how many rust-free Chargers are left, or would cost that much by themselves before any "conversion"?

i have seen ads similar to them...stating they will build you a charger...but the catch is you have to supply your car!!! what they are offering is "the RESTO"???? don't know if this is what they are doing or not..or  could be a SCAAAAAM!!!!!!?????

Even if you provide the car $22k is not going to get you a quality restoration job. It can get you a show quality paint job but that's about it.

oh cmon bull... you can't tell me that if  you supply the car ...that an extra 22K wouldn't finish it!!!
don't discourage me, cause that about my budget with the car!!!!!!!!  :icon_smile_blackeye:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

man, I have half of that in mine and I haven't touched the body or the suspension!  Unless you've got a car in great shape already or you're not taking it to the frame, I don't see 22k being near enough.

so then what do you guys think a good price is for a first car that I can drive and learn on? and where's the best place to look? For 68 to 70 charger, and whats the price difference looking at Se's and R/t's V.S. your standard Charger with a aftermarket 383 in it..?

Mike,

Use the ask the seller a question option on the ebay listing.  ask him for phone number info and stuff like that.  Use some of the questions on this thread, like the one HITMAN posted.  Do they supply the vehicle, etc.....

If they give you info than be patient and like Troy said maybe he will go check it out for you.  Find out their address and numbers.  If they are a legit business then they will give you this info as it's not a residence.

If they don't answer or skirt the questions, then we move on from there.

There the same picture. I think we got a scam here! (The Ebay icon is in both pics because I only felt like uploading one pic but go look at the registry gallery and you'll see it!)

I don't want to discourage you but...

If you figure in a decent amount for labor I don't see how they can do a very good job if you drop off a project car and pick it up finished. I was quoted $20k just in bodywork and paint. They started on it but I ran out of funds and now the Charger is sitting in the garage in primer after $13k in bodywork and another $2k in parts (no block sanding and no paint yet). Add to that the price I paid for the car ($5,500) plus the money I have yet to earn and spend on it to finish. I'm hoping another $15k will cover the cost of finishing it but I'm not going to hold my breath. If it does I'll have a total of about $40k into it counting the purchase price. If not, :'(

It doesn't have to get done in six months though. At least all the rust is gone and it's straight. It's not going anywhere and I've gotten a large portion of the overall project done. All I need now is $$$$.

yeah I will check into it, thanks guys! So what is a good price for a drivable (still needs some, like interior or mechanical, work) 68-70?

yeah, thats why i was asking on here after finding out about HLpag, he gave me the phone number and address..
and said:
"Yes, supply everything including the car.  The buyer is responsible for pick/up and/or shipping.  One of our staff takes a lot of calls, his name is Darrin.  His number is 812-236-7609.  He would be happy to take any of your calls.  All mail is sent to 3157 N. 16th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804.  Please feel free to send any more questions. Look forward to doing business with you"
there was another guy claiming to do GL's for 20K but hasn't responded yet.

They don't claim that you're buying the charger in the picture.  They claim to build you one like it.  Of course, that begs why they wouldn't post pictures of one of the cars they built.

mikepmcs

wait. i'm confused now.  the first ad you are talking about included shipping in the price(a hefty cost at that)

your last post you said buyer responsible for shipping.  who we talking about here?  Is the seller HLPAG????

MikeMacCham

Yeah, sorry Mike
That is probably the second one. I must have confused them because there were 2 seperate places saying that they would build you the car for around the same price. The one that said they included shipping has not responded back.

Wow sounds like a deal. The last "scam" I saw like this on ebay was some place out of Texas I believe and the opening bid or maybe it was buy it now was 73,000+ and I believe you had to supply the car, but I might be wrong about that. Some people should be kicked and beaten...........hard!
