i'm trying to get all my pics on this thread . so bear with me
after i built my daytona i was not happy with the handling characteristics of  her . especially at high speeds and she wouldn't stop well at high speeds . so i converted the front brakes to 11 inch drilled rotors and 11 inch rear drums .i changed everything on the brakes .  if in the future i decide to go to 18 inch rims i will put discs in the back too . i used all new parts . no reman parts . even the master is brand new . plus all chrysler parts .the rear brake hose was collapsed inside and very little pressure could get to the rear brakes . i was lucky that my friend Jack had two nos rear drums . that he sold me cheap . all i cold find where crappy repo drums .  what a difference . they are manual brakes but feel like power brakes . great pedal and she stops on a dime .
i also installed kyb high pressure , self adjust shocks on all 4 corners . plus i changed all sway bar bushings to poly

i also installed frame connectors . i used the type that look like the original frame and get welded from front to back. i recommend you use this type . they are a lot more labor intensive but they will correct any sagging in the uni body . then painted everything with eastwood's rust encapsulator . my car was sagged in the middle about 3/4 of and inch . i used two hydraulic jacks to push the connectors into place . that raised the floor straight . this tightened the cars handling a lot .its stiffer then it use to be.

if your gonna use a fiberglass window plug . it is a MUST that you strap the frame or you will get cracks where the plug meets the car .
i used the vega hatch for mine . if you use the vega hatch and your gonna drive the sh*t out of your car . you must strap the frame . these old bodies flex a lot.

i also changed the tires to a lower profile . this has also tightened up the feel of the car

:yesnod: definitely worth the extra effort . i was really surprised at how much the body had sagged in the middle.

Hey Rene...Did you not participate in the show? That would have been great to have seen you on television. All I've ever been on was one episode of Overhaulin and I was on the Mecum auction a couple of weeks ago. We auctioned off the black 69 Roadrunner that I built a couple of years ago.

Thats funny. I just watched the corvette episode that I had recorded. There's no way that I could work on a car for 48 hours. On the original shows they had three days and had places to sleep occasionally.
Heck, I can't work on my hotrods for 48 minutes without thinking about taking a snack break or a nap   :eek2:

You should see some of the Overhaulin cars after the filler and primers shrink.  The Challenger that they built in Vegas in November 2006 wasn't delivered to the owner until April 2007. The black car that they did for Lance Armstrong had to be totally redone before going onto the show circuit. You can't build a nice car in just a few days. We let our cars sit in final prime for at least a month before final sand and even longer if the customer isn't in a hurry. Makes a big difference not only in eliminating sand scratch swelling but also in eliminating gloss reduction due to solvent evaporating up through the clearcoat.

Your absolutely right Larry! I was always suspect about how those cars turned out for the "long haul" being built so quickly!

i'm thinking 20's in the back and 18's in front and the widest wheel  i can fit  . i'm gonna airbag the rear,  so i can control the  height and control the stiffness of the rear suspension . i like it when the wheel looks tucked up into the wheel opening . plus no wheel opening moldings
