Thanks for posting the pics. I was 11 when I saw my first wing car sitting in a parking lot on Castle Air Force base, it was new then and made a lasting impression. It was a F8 green with white wing and stripe daytona since then I have always wanted one and this year Im starting my clone. might just piss the wife off and get a second on the house to get all the parts asap and have it finished by the end of the year.

today's bad news: Mrs. Learical says I can't keep big mopar photo album out, next to the 'puter.  At least not until her mother visits next month.  So, I may not have more pix to post until then.  (Shh! don't tell, but I'll sneak out and post what I can.)

And here's a question for the wonderful administrators of this site:  I have the official 1980 Winged Warriors photo album. (it even has my name stamped on the cover.)  HOWEVER, the pix were taken by a prof. photographer, and I don't want to get anyone in trouble with copyright infringement by posting them here.

Seriously though, is that photo business still around?  I'd lay pretty good odds that it's not in biz anymore, in which case it might be a moot point.  Troy would have to give his thoughts on the specifics of copywrited material and/or infringement though since it's his site and potentially his keister on the line.

Incidentally, thanks for posting all these pictures from "back in the day" - some really cool stuff there!

The pictures are really sharp. As to the Winged Warriors stuff, if the intellectual property belongs to someone else, there shouldn't be a question. Find the photographer or his assigns. People like Geoff Stunkard in MCG copyright their pictures and the Winged Warriors even copyright their newsletter.

Here's the story:
My brother Bill and I purchased the 500 around 1980.  As you can see from the pictures, it was missing the A-Pillar mouldings and the stripe when we got it.  Besides headers and the mages, it was stock.  When we sold it in January, 1983, the new owner was given a set of A-pillar mouldings, a white stripe, and factory exhaust manifolds we had purchased.  About a year and a half ago, I received a phone call from a man in Scottsdale/Fountain Hills AZ saying he now owned the 500.  He remembered my brother and me from 20+ years ago and found me in the phone book.  I mailed him a few pix.  Unfortunately, I have lost his name and address.     I don't recall the VIN, but I'm sure it would be in one of the old Winged Warriors newsletters.  The 500 was low optioned; Hemi, 4 speed, no console, green with green interior, AM radio.  And (maybe) a tick tock tach.

Next thing someone gets some kind of title from Broadway title and I find my car is for sale on e-bay. Doug Schellinger is a excellent source, and I believe you can trust him with your information. He doesn't broadcast it out.

Alot of my look up infomation is found in past wing car club newsletters  for starters.They had readers ride story with vin and owners names.And its a good source of reference to start from when looking up a cars history.If such info was being pulled from a DMV data base.Then it would be not public knowledge as ebay discloses vins it its cars description.As well as many auction sites provide that same type of info.I would bet Galen poured through all mopar related newsletters when he debuted to the club in 81-82.To accomplish his data base.I have been able to locate my old cars on these boards .And provide buildsheets pictures and paperwork .They wouldnt have came into contact by any other means.If I hadnt recognized my vin and or cars description

Fair enough.  My idea was soley that any current owner could contact me for details from my time of ownership, but I understatd the worry of a phony title to the current owner.  plus, I wouldn't give out a current owners name or location without permission.  (I don't consider Scottsdale/Fountain Hills much of a 'given' location)

On the same note, Doug Schellinger is extremely trustworthy with the information.  I contacted Doug a while back about the location of my former cars.  He replied with the state one of the 'Birds is located; hopefully he maintained my info to pass on to anyone who asks.

Dennis Storm of phoenix AZ owned a 4 speed green hemi 500 XS29J9B210742.the Lear brothers owned that car also .And the RM23UOA161569 1 of 2 FY1 yellow superbirds.One was formerly Joe Sharp Mira Loma CA.The other one was RM23VOA149852.RM23UOA161559 FJ5 green shows also being owned by the Lear Brothers.And a Tor Red superbird RM23UOA168739

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but just because the photo's are copywrote doesn't mean you can't post them. Depends on what the Copywrite is on. Reproductions, or display. Not sure if you would consider scanning reproducing, or just displaying. Displaying would be considered legally okay.


I say scan them in. As far as the photo's on the moparts page that has since turned into a 30+ page of red X's. I'll see about scanning in those photo's again. Although the last time it took me several months to get through it all.

Hi nascarXX29, how are you doing? I just saw the post you did that had a few pictures of 500's and one of them was a Y2 Yellow Hemi 500. I was wondering if you know where that car was when the picture was taken. Thanks again for posting the pictures of Reedman Dodge.A couple of years ago I talked to a salesman that was there back then and he believed that they probably sold more Daytona's than any other dealer. He didn't remember the exact cars so much but did remember having quite a few of them.

I think that Y2 car picture  came from the old vintage wing cars post.It was board members 69 500 dads photo archive collection .I also recall a Mike C of W VA having a similar car

Thanks nascarxx29, I was just wondering if it was one that I had seen. I also wanted to mention to you that I was talking with a woman at work today and had asked her if she knew of Reedman Dodge in Langhorne. She not only knows of it but says when they were younger they would go over there just for something to do. She spoke of how incredible of a dealership it was. That probably explains why the salesman that I had talked to believed that they probably sold more Daytona's than any other dealer. If you ever figure away to print out any of those other pics of the cars on the lot and such please keep me in mind. Thanks again.

Dave your right, that Y2 HEMI 500 is a photo that my dad shot.

Just so you know that car was in Kentucky when the photo was taken, and by the dates on back of the photo it was printed in 1983. Not sure when the photo was taken, but was printed in 1983, and with as many photo's as my dad shot I'd say it was in 83.

Honestly I can't say which 500 it is, due to my dad not ever taking the time to write stuff down on 500's like he did for Daytona's. On the back of Daytona photo's he wrote VIN"s and fender tag information, on the photo's of 500's it blank.
