69 charger, anyone know the vin of the last one made?

Just courios if anyone knows the last 69 charger made before they switched to 70,s , my car is 407391 and i have never seen another later vin # than this . Jerry

Jerry, your car probably has an SPD sometime in the first week of June, correct?  I think they made another 40,000 cars or so after that (at Hamtramck, anyway), but that's just a rough guess.  Chris aka Just_6T9_Chgr can shed some more light, but at least one of the cars I have in my files has a scheduled build date of 626, and its VIN is 434780.

The highest Hamtramck Charger I've seen is 7/0* 442089; The highest STL built Charger is a 7/9 307441. Theoretically, a STL built Charger could have a lower VIN but made after the Hamtramck plant stopped.

Anyhoo, the latest VIN # I have in the registry is 448137  This 318 (F) car was imported to Sweeden in 1974.  I do not have a SPD for it though...

The latest VIN with an SPD is 447936 which has an SPD of 7/18/69 (Which I believe is the last day of production for the 69 model year)

The latest St. Louis VIN I have is, like Doug stated, 307441 with an SPD of 7/9/69

This is still the latest 69 STL car I've come across. Interesting that STL goes to 7/09 and Hamtramck SPDs go 9 days later. STL must have taken early vacations....

I wonder if the apparent early shut down at the St. Louis plant for Charger's has anything to do with getting ready for the 1970 Charger production line because that was the only plant that built Charger's in 1970.

hemigeno & 69CoronetRT both have posted two different car numbers with earlier build dates than my car, July 1st Hamtramk, but they have higher VIN's.  What's up with that?  Does it mean anything?

From previous discussions the SPD was not always set in stone and thus the reason for the term "scheduled" production date.  I would put more weight in the Vin# tracking production over the build date to determine the order.

and I would also look closely at date coded parts. '69 STL seems to get weird toward the end of production. A higher number than usual cars seem to have late (7/08 and 7/09) SPDs. It's almost like they bunched in several thousand on the last couple of SPDs but production could have lasted up until the 19th like Hamtramck. Research continues....

Cool, great info. I was just thinking and posted this. My dad bought my car the day after he returned from Nam and he said 70,s were on the lot at that time. It is a 69 R/T, T-7 Bronze, Black interior/top/No stripe, with manual steering, manual tranny, manual brakes and power windows. I have had the body and paint and interior done for a long time now just to get it finished and back on the road. Jerry

Maybe the guy changing the date stamp got lazy or ran a bunch off ahead of time. We have a 1970 Charger with a August 69 door sticker and 9/2/69 SPD so who knows what went on day to day.

With the beauty of a registry, I can say with 97.3% accuracy, that your 400457 was built on 5/30/69  (unless it is a Daytona)

My VIN is 439350. Haynes Motors delivered the car to Hazel Zorn, in Del Rio Texas, on August 20th, 1969. I would have to check the build sheet again, but I believe it was born in July.
