73' 74' Charger Slotted Tips? Help !

This is ignorant but, I have 2" exhaust tail pipes on my 73' Charger. I want to put a set of Slooted Tips on it. The tips I have are 2" 1/4? Can I just make a sleeve to get them to fit or will they just slip over the 2" tail pipes and then clamp or weld them on?

However I now I rememer think there was two kind of assemblies, to cars with resonators and without resonators... This is with resonator.

then I think they are clamped, just checked the 74 catalog. Sorry no scanner.

using a sleeve will tighten them up better & is the route I would take
