Quentin Tarentino was on Leno tonight talking about Grindhouse, and specifically Death Proof.

Jay asked about the car chases and the cars, He started talking about back in the 70s, if you heard about a Car Chase movie, you RAN to the theater! He mentioned 0Vanishing Point and Leno mentioned Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. Leno asked about the cars, Tarentino said he used "THE ONLY CARS" the 70 Dodges! Well at least he appreciates them! SAid when the movie was done, there was a Charger and a Challenger left that weren't destroyed, he had the movie crew mechanics put him together one of each from the cars that were left over.

He's actually a HUGE fan of car chases, but hates the modern CGI everything that they do now!

The chases in Death Proof are all Actual stunts, NO CGI , NO speeding up film!

The cool thing was when he said which cars they used, THE CROWD on the show cheered!!!!!! And when Jay told him he was concerned about the treatment of the cars he said they pretty well destroyed them, there were a lot of moans from the crowd.

Cool! Two hours from now I can watch it. Thanks for the heads up!

the little "in car clips" ive seen of death proof show a Nova...  ???

Do a search on "Grindhouse" or "DeathProof" and trust me, a black 69 Charger and a white 70 Challenger get a LOT of screen time!

There is a Nova in the flick but the bad guy (as always) drives the black Charger and a couple of women who are trying to finish him off are in a white Challenger. The two Dodges are the stars.

I could have swore that nova was chasing a 3rd gen white charger in the commercials too.. ???
Earth. Even the word sounded strange to me now... unfamiliar. How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter? I tried to find the rhythm of the world where I used to live. I followed the current. I was silent, attentive, I made a conscious effort to smile, nod, stand, and perform the millions of gestures that constitute life on earth. I studied these gestures until they became reflexes again. But I was haunted by the idea that I remembered her wrong -Solaris

TruckDriver

Well, there is definatly a Nova in the movie.

You realize, that hood ornament on the Charger was the same one used in the '78 movie "Convoy" on Rubber Duck's black Mack. I found that out on the truckers forum I hang out on.

Could that Nova possibly be the same one from pulp fiction?

Kurt Russel in on Leno tonight. They just said that. I'm sure the movie will come up again too.

EDIT: Jay brought up the car destruction about the Chargers and Challengers. Kurt said the Nova got killed too. But they talked about the fact that the Dodge people were going to hunt down Tarentino. And Kurt said that they did talk about it before the filming even started, and they knew it would be touchy ground cause these were nice cars at the start.  :P

And, Tarentino is on Conan tonight too. I don't care for Conan, So, I won't be watching that.

Sounds like Russel got the year of the Charger wrong too. I believe he said a '70 Dodge Charger and a '70 Challenger. :rotz:

I find a little of Tarentino goes a l o n g[/b] way. From Disk to Dawn was terrific. From there the rest seem to be slowly doing a Shyamalan drop off.

From Dusk Till Dawn was actually directed by Robert Rodriguez but Tarantino wrote the screenplay. Of course Quentin Tarantino has done a lot of his own stuff. I enjoyed Kill Bill parts 1 and 2, Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown and Pulp fiction.

Yes - Resevoir Dogs was great. I found Pulp Fiction to be a bit over hyped. The Kill Bill series and I didn't get along very well.

To be honest, I really liked Kill Bill 1 but 2 was not as good IMO. Pulp Fiction was way over hyped but it was very well done. I didn't really need to see the scene in the basement of the pawn shop but other than that it's up there as one of my favs.

bordin34

:iagree: but the scenes leading up to it were funny and good.

Strat, first of all, you look nothing like him. Second, be thankful you don't, that cat is wacky looking. People told my brother all the time he looked like Tarentino, until Dwight Schroot from The Office TV show showed up. Now they say he looks like him. :o
