Well it will steer and stop now.   Plans was to have it sent to the body shop for the completion of the finish work but some other things got in the way like maintenance on the house and several other things like my dog (Stumpy) had to be hospitalized and cut wide open after he swallowed a treble hook on vacation a couple weeks ago   ..... ....he's doing fine now and gets his staples out this Monday. So I am doing some more work myself now. Thought I better do an update.

I just want to thank you for this topic! Your photos of the column rebuild saved my butt. That little collar you put on last, my 70 never had one and the wheel never sat right on the column (I had to leave it a little loose) Without that and the wheel tightened to it the shaft won't seat to the bearing properly. 14 years of trying to figure out what was going on ended when I saw this! After searching everywhere for one I got a 3/4 bushing from a bearing shop and cut one to fit!

i just spent the last 30+ min reading thru this...i can only hope my resto comes out as good as yours has...and you made it all look so easy 

i wish someone had a write up like this on for a 72...

Hey, yes, that's me!!  With what I'm seeing of your work, your car will be awesome.. The difference is you can take credit for it.. I'm simply PAYING for mine to be done.. While this doesn't bother me, I really wish that I could take credit for doing the work, but I have no problem admitting it's way over my head.

Another hold up.....but not a body shop from hell hold up. I should have had it ready to go for paint by now. My right foot has hampered me over the last year and it is time to go under the knife   I have put up with it as long as I can. I can go to work and maintain a few things around the homestead but it has been killing me to do much more. I will get multiple bone spurs removed from my heal and repair a partially detached achilles tenden. I will go in for surgery Oct 8th. Since I am on my feet all day long at work I will be down 6 weeks.   I guess I will be on the weight machine and the computer more now
