It has been 5 months since I started it. It is taking as long as expected.....i guess. I figured a couple years to do it. Started the back window rust a couple weeks ago....yeah I am a slow joe. Had a setback over the weekend. A piece of metal flew in my goggles while grinding Sat. I thought I got it out but Sun morning my eye was swelled shut. I went to the hospital and the used a small drill to extract the sliver which was lodged in pretty good. Didn't miss work today though (should have with all the sick leave I have accumulated) Should be back on it tomorrow eve after work since I might be able to maybe see ok then. I started my resto on the 1970chargerregistry. If anyone here cares here is the link from page 3 of 4 cause thats where most the work pics are. If anyone notices how much login time it is because most of it is when I am out in the garage I usually am logged on and when the carple tunnel or the ole back kicks in I bug you guys :icon_smile_big: Here also is what the rear window looked and looks like now. Hopefully when done with that soon I think it will be blasted and primed. Thanks guys for all the good feedback on some of my stupid questions

The top piece was aftermarket. But after cutting the curves off to make it fit I could have made it myself. The bottom & corners I had to make. I had to go to a couple places just to find some snug goggles. The guy at home depot said saftey glasses will work.....i said they did till now.

Your fab work looks great!  I'm sure glad your eye is OK!  I had a friend break a drill bit sending it right into his eye.  Needless to say
I do nothing without my glasses :coolgleamA:.

That looks so great to see the rusty parts fixed right, wish I could do that kind of body work, done right.  I am afraid to look under the chrome around the back window on my car  :icon_smile_big:

Glad your eye is ok now,  a friend of mine from around w seattle, 27 year roofing trade and salesman for that company, had a bungy chord snap on ladder on roof rack, snaps and hit him in the eye, three operations over maybe six months, with a small hope of fixing it, and now they just had to remove his eye, can't believe this happened to him,  I need to wear safety glasses/goggles myself more when I am power washing stuff,  or with the cleaner on battery post and small lead pieces are flying,  got paint in my eye once, and wet cement once , hurt bad, had to have someone get the paint and cement out,

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

What a strange place to have rusted out so badly! Looks a heck of a lot better now!

And on another, but related topic....
Had a sliver of metal fly into my eye a few years ago. Didn't even realize it had happened, but for a slight stinging sensation.
Later, at a optometrist, I was informed there was a .25" shard embedded in my retina. Fortunately for me, it's in the process of dissolving on it's own.
Lesson learned though. I always wear safety glasses no matter what I do in the shop.

PS: I always wear a full welding shield now when I weld too. Can you guess why?

You better check under the trim....it will only get worse if you see any at all. I just seen some bubbles under my roof and when I removed the top and trim  :o. Sorry to hear about your friend. That's terrible.

I bet my top looks pretty darn close to that, or worse. I know there are rust bubbles in that area.
That patch looks great, nice job!

Glad the eye injury wasn't worse. :)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

The70RT

Finished the rear widow rust work today. I haven't used any filler yet. Where the top channel and roof meets will need some though and some smaller imperfections here and there. Just primered it for now I will do that later.

Im glad I picked up on thas soon as I started. I see what you mean, you dont have much tolerence. The only part that was savable was the sides so I used the trim for a template........worked out ok.

:iagree:

I ran into an issue with my trim when I put patches on the lower right and left corners. It doesn't take much at all to throw the fit off if your not careful. You definitly have Skillz!  Looking very good!  :2thumbs:

Big Lebowski

Cool progress pics, I like clean shiny sheet metal around the windows.
