I saw a kit that a guy is selling on e-bay that looks like a great starter for a deluxe rotisserie.  Here is the e-bay link a picture of what you get.

I believe the guy's name is John Pasman (spelling?) & he's a member at Moparts.com. A lot of members over there have bought many items from him & have been very happy. I would like to get one of these, but not just yet, maybe I'll be ready for it in about a year.

That one looks great and has great plans & materials lists to work from.  Just remember, when you are done with it, don't Bogart that Rotisserie just pass it on to your friends.

That's a great looking kit!!
I especially like the roller bearing & hub idea.

I guess the most expensive part would be getting the hydraulic jacks...I bet some old bumper jacks from a boneyard would work just as nicely.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Son of a....!!!

I finally got through scrounging and re-designing my version of ChargerBill's rotisserie. The majority of my problems would have been addressed with that kit.

Anyway, this is what my garage looked like this past Saturday:

is it difficult to rotate on that since you have no height adjustment for the point of rotation? ........looks  good though.

Do you think three legs are good or a link between the up right at each end would be better?

Looks like your garage is about the same size as mine...small. :-\

Hey, just a concerned word of caution, you might want to weld some stabilizers where the vertical upright meets the bottom horizontal legs. I'd sure hate to hear that a weld broke & damaged your Charger.

Sydmoe, there is some vertical adjustment to the spinner. The holes run from side to side rather than front to back. I just haven't  bothered to raise it yet. It was problem enough to get to the height it's at. I will do it though - when I need to.

Charger_fan, yeah it's small, but there is some room up there. I would just have to rip down the shelving overhead and raise the door opener. I wish I had done that before I got the new doors because I would have gotten the high lift option for the door tracks. They said I could upgrade to them later if I wanted...

And as for the welds - they were done in a professional shop by a welder with years of experience using an industrial welder. The tube is about 3" tube with almost a 1/4" wall - 0.2250" if I remember correctly. It has been suggested that I could lift a freightliner with it.  :P but I won't try that...
I had insisted on some corner braces, but they damn near laughed at me and told me not to worry. After working with it, I'm not.

The onlly thing that I don't have yet that I want is the piece to tie the front and back pieces together. I'm working on that.

BTW, the whole thing cost me about $50 and that was for the casters. Everything else came from the scrap bucket of the shop that put it together for me. Mind you, it's been a year in the making... but free is still good.

Charger_Fan

I guess if the welder is that confident about it, I can relax. :icon_smile_big:
That's a great price too! For that price, it was probably worth the wait.

BTW, looks your Charger's coming along nicely!

Go to www.uscartool.com.

That's John Pasemann's website.  He makes about the best and most reasonably priced rotisserie out there (also available in kit form).

Since I'm restoring some pretty high dollar cars like the matching numbers hemi 4-speed 67 gtx that I'm doing now, I decided to splurge and get a nice rotiisserie from accessible systems. It's totally adjustable and doesn't even flex when I turn the car over. It has a device for finding the center of gravity on the car. You can spin the car with one hand. When I painted the engine compartment and trunk, I was able to swing it back and forth to get to all of the cracks and crevices. Don't know how I lived without it. Was kind of pricey at approx $1900 inc shipping but well worth it. When I start my Daytona clone next year, I won't have to worry about anything coming apart.

WOAH!! :o Now THAT's a rotisserie! :2thumbs:

That's probably the most heavy duty roisserie I've seen yet...it would probably hold a Mack truck! :icon_smile_big:

The nice thing about the accessible systems rotisserie is that one end pivots so that you can steer it and move it around easily. I can roll it in and out of the paint booth by myself. I pulled it around to the back of the body shop with my tractor when I sand blasted the underside and engine compartment. The guys at accessible systems even pulled a car down the highway while mounted to one of these rotisseries although they don't recommend it.

Hotrod,
Im not trying to knock you but John's setup doesn't flex when you turn the car over and you can also spin his freely with a couple of fingers.I know becuase he is working on my R/T!   :icon_smile_big::He also has worked on and owned some pretty rare cars as well.He just sold his 70 Coronet R/T convertible a year or two ago,and right now he is also restoring 1 of 7 70 Pink Supebee's and it also came with a 4 spd and A/C!!(he has documentation) :icon_smile_shock:(which he used to own as well)..........If that is not rare I don't know what is!   :yesnod::He is known in the busines also for his bolt in driveshaft loops. There are 1 or 2 copycats out there but John is the originator of it.He does a number of cars but doesn't brag about what he does, which is one reason why I like him.
Hotrod, good luck with your GTX!....what is your timeline to have it completed?

A lot of people build good rotisseries. Additionally, a lot of people choose to build them for themselves to save money. I say that if you don't have the money to buy one...build one. Personally, I'm not going to trust someone's $100,000 car on a homemade rotisserie and I'm not going to take the time to build something when I can make far more money doing paint and body work in the same amount of time that it would take to build one. The hemi GTX that I'm painting now belongs to a guy that owns a construction company. He has the same theory. He can make far more money doing the construction work while I slave away on his car. It all seems to work out. During the same time I'm making $10,000...he's making $20,000. No brainer. :yesnod:
I wanted a rotiisserie that I could move around even on a gravel lot if necessary. I can even load the car in my enclosed trailer while still bolted to the rotisserie. I wouldn't have wanted to build one like this myself.
As for bragging, I hope you're not referring to me because I don't need to brag. I just tell the facts.  The cars that I own now are not top dollar cars and most of the work that I do is not on top dollar cars. Actually, my company makes far more money doing insurance rapairs than we will ever make doing resto work. The resto work is a sideline hobby that happens to make decent money which I promptly spend on more cars. It's an obsession.

lowprofile,
Here's the website for the rotisserie.

www.accessiblesystems.com

They have lighter weight portables and stationary style rotisseries as well.
Like I said before, there are a lot of different manufacturers out there building some good stuff. Just price around and see if you can find the one that fits your needs. I'm very happy with mine. The only problem that I have with it is it's very heavy and moving back and forth between the bodyshop and my shop at home is job.
I'm taking it home in a few weeks as soon as this GTX is finished to put my 69 RT S/E on it for the transformation into the daytona. Then everyone can say goodbye to another triple black RT S/E.  :icon_smile_big:

Thanks for the kind words.

And yep, the welder is that good. They build boilers and condensors in that shop. The welds that these guys do have to be x-rayed before they pressure test a system. If they don't pass, they have to rework a major part of the build - it's not just a re-weld. So, they get pretty good at making perfect welds the first time.

One of the best welders there lives around the corner from me. I haven't met him yet, but the word on him is that if you tell him you want a nice weld, he'll TIG a weld that you won't have to grind. That might be an exaggeration, but if comes anywhere near that, I'd be happy.
I have some welds I'd like redone. I might get him over here one day. Within the group there's a portable TIG machine that they use for field repairs.

Hey Goldfinger1,
No problem. I was just making sure. I wasn't upset and didn't intend for it to sound that way. As you know it's kind of hard to get the feeling behind a statement across in writing. I don't want people to think that I'm a braggart or anything. I was kind of poor growing up and have worked hard to get to where I am today. Around here there are people that resent me for having a lot of muscle cars which kind of hurts my feelings a little. I get accused of hoarding them by the same guys that wouldn't buy them just a few years ago. Go figure. They all refused to buy these "junky old mopars". They're not laughing now for some reason. Now they all want a cuda, a charger or a roadrunner. ;D

Thanks for setting the record straight.
