Trans cooling lines, and a coolant leak question

Hello,

I ordered the trans cooling lines from year one.  I was wondering if anybody had a picture of how they fit under the car?  Or suggestions for installing them.  I wanted to put them on today but can't figure it out.

Also I filled up my radiator with coolant, and for some reason there is a slow dripping leak from the drivers side of the car, almost near the motor mount area?  I double checked the hoses and the radiato drain plug and there are no leaks on those....why is this leaking??? I also didn't see any leaks on my water pump?

Thanks

coolant leak...slow and dripping...
fromw here you stated it sounds like one of two problems, from the head (gasket, or exhaust bolt), or much more likely, from a rusted/worn out/bumped hard freeze plug.
Stick your head under there and you shuold be able to see the trail of liquid and where it starts, my bet would be on the freeze plug.

Tranny lines typically run right along the skirt of the block next to the oil-pan and connect to its radiator there.

Where is the freeze plug located at?  I can't really see to well under there right now.  Its not the head gasket, I will check the exhaust bolts though this afternoon.

Thanks.

i would guess its probably the freeze plug behind the motor mount,as that would be the most inconveniant one to leak :flame:

Any suggestions on how I would change the freeze plug?  That has to be it, all the coolant is dripping from right below that motor mount.

Cooler lines routing.......disregard the extra Hemi only cooler lines (unless you have a Hemi ;)

I had one pop on the driver side front of my 383 after putting the new engine in 2 years ago. I was able to get the new freeze plug up in place and drive it home with a socket wrench and extension. If you can get a clear shot that may work for you too. Probably not the preferred method but I was not about to pull the engine after fighting the headers for 4-5 hours.

The best way to get to the freeze plug behind the motor mount is to unbolt the motor mounts and raise the motor.  You will have a clear view of the plug.  Check your radiator close along the tank on the drilver side, looking for slight surface rust or radiator fluid.  If you run the engine while looking for the leaks it will speed up the process of finding the leaks.  You will have to make sure you keep the fluid level up so that you do not force other freeze plugs to pop.

I had a similiar experience with my 67 two months ago.  Except my engine is at the machine shop getting a rebuild.  The freeze plug only forced me to pull the engine earlier than I wanted to.

It has been a while since  I posted because I haven't been working on my car for a few weeks.  I raised up the motor and removed the mount.  I have a clear view at the side of the block but I don't see a freeze plug.  Does anybody have a picture of where it is on the block or what it looks like?
