Yes it's a Ford but...

A friend brought my attention to this car as I've been looking for a weekend cruiser for the girlfriend.

The car is a 1966 Ford Thunderbird with a 390 under the hood. I emailed the owner and this is the response. Just wondering if you think it's worth the $1500 OBO CDN price tag. That works out to about $1280 U.S. OBO. From what my friend told me, the skull was painted on the car because the car was going to be used in a demo derby or something like that!  :rotz:

QuoteHi,  The motor does run but it is not driveable.  The transmission needs to be looked at.  I replaced the rusted out gast tank with a new reproduction one. I also replaced the starter, fuel pump, plugs and plug wires.  The body needs to be stripped minor body work needs to be done.  The front right fender needs a dent worked out, or replaced.  The majority of rust is on the back right quarter panel behind the wheel well.  The body was undercoated and a newer exhaust was put in.   If i were to keep the car I would replace the brake lines, master cyclinder, rebuild the motor, carb and replace fuel lines.  The interior is in good condition.  Being it was a luxury car in its day, most things are electric and have worn out, or fuses are gone.  The dash needs new hardware as the previous owner let all the screws rust.  I removed the carpet in the trunk to keep the moisture out.  I'll attach some more pictures for you.  Anymore questions, just send another message.

THE CHARGER PUNK

looks like a good deal for $1500 :yesnod:

Looks VERY similar to a car my friend bought a while back only his was a 64 and white with red vinyl interior.  About the same condition.  He paid $1500 for it and we had to go halfway across the $*%# country for it.  Then a month later he decided to sell it.   ::)  Anyway he had a very tough time trying to sell it, but eventually he did get it sold.  There really was not alot of interest in it though, it sat out here right on a highway, with a for sale sign on it for months and maybe 2 or 3 people stopped.  I managed to get it sold for him through craigslist.  I guess its one of those love it or hate it cars.  I guess what I am saying is that I wouldnt buy it if theres a chance of having to resell it.  But if its a car you would keep, it seems like a cool enough project.   I really like the one they used on the Highlander TV series, it was the same body style but a triple black convertible.   :icon_smile_cool:

Those are nice cars. The very first car I ever drove (before I even got my licence) was my uncle's '66 T-Bird with a 390, Burgundy and a white top. He let me take it out in front of his house as back then, there was really no traffic by his house. That 390 has balls :yesnod:
