Would it be possible to get an overheating issue if the valve clearances are not set right?

Reason being, the tappets are noisey around 2k & up, maybe @ lower rpms, the exhaust & headers are drowning it out.

Hydraulic cam, hydraulic lifters & crane roller rockers.

Thanks in advance.

Not possible from an overall engine overheating situation, but if the valve lash is to tight (hydraulic or mechanical), you will end up with burned valves. The fact that you say the lifters are noisy would indicate that perhaps the valve lash is to loose. This can cause abnormal wear, but not overheating.

Some typical causes of over heating are:  plugged radiator, no shroud, wrong fan, slipping belt, collapsing bottom radiator hose, inoperative fan clutch or viscous drive, malfunctioning thermostat, low collant level, late ignition timing (not enough advance), lean air/fuel mixture, defective head gasket (or internal crack) that allows exhaust gas into the coolant, and plugged radiator-A/C condenser fins (bugs or bent).

Though there are other possibilities they are extremely rare. Check on the possabilities above first.

Thanks, I'll look into the above.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?
