Looks like it was a nice '61 Corvette. WTF? Did the guy think he was in reverse and drove it off?

I would be sick if I was the driver of the rig and in a coma if I was the owner.

That stinks.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I really don't think it was repairable. I suppose it could of been, but remember, that is a one piece fiberglass body. Just look at the split in the fender :icon_smile_dissapprove:

Even though I'm not big into Vettes, I still feel bad for the owner. It still was/is someones baby. And regardless, it is a collector car.

Kinda reminds me of this poor car.

Side swipped by this while on the side of the road. This happened 2 years ago? A few of the other guys know the story more then me. The 2 bottom pictures are the same car before. If I remember right, the guy just bought it, and was taking it home.

Actually the Corvette is made up of several pieces of fiberglass that are bonded together from behind with bonding strips. This car is repairable but it won't be cheap. It looks like the body split right where the bonding strips are. The frame might have taken a nasty shot and bent the front ears with the whole weight of the car landing on them.
Either way I wouldn't want the car back if it were mine. I have a restored 1958 Corvette and know from experience they are a major pain in ass and wallet to get to look that good. I don't think I'd want to go through it a second time.

I never used to care about seatbelts when I had my old Charger.  In fact, I installed a new headliner and left the shoulder belts out on purpose.  It looked like they were never even there, and I got by with it.  Fooled several cops. But then again I was 18-20 at the time.

Now that I am older (and maybe even a little wiser ;) )...  I am glad they are there.  They might even get upgraded to a rollbar with harnesses someday.
