I bet you were pissed!
Just a little. I'm afraid to take it out. It's brittle enough, without paint on it. I'm glad I talked to him before he painted the trunk. He was ready to paint it speckled, that's what he thought it should. Chebbie guys. :pity:

The70RT

I guess i was lucky. I found two. One wasn't for my car and was under the bottom back seat trashed. The correct one spent all it's life barely dangling by a corner behind the upper back seat and is almost perfect :icon_smile_big:  On my 70 Cutlass I found four....all correct for the car.

Is it possible that there might be more than one build sheet for the same car?

FJMG

My understanding is that there was 6 sheets printed for every car; one for dash assembly(usually found over glove box), one for seat assembly ( usually found under seat springs), two entered the car after paint (these are the ones usually found under the carpet), and two extras printed close to the end (for inspection??? or verification???? I'm not sure) these were usually tossed. Maybe an older employee can confirm this?

Alaskan_TA

The most that I have ever heard of for one car is five, but I am sure some were printed that got tossed out too.

If you have not done so yet, look inside the front seat backs and under the front seat cushions.

If that fails, I do have a few Challenger convertible sheets here waiting to be claimed......

Best of luck,
Barry

I have a 1970 Corvette roadster 350/350 4 speed car in addition to my '68 Charger. While the Vette is a low mileage car, 47k, it's had it share of issues including a siezed motor and being parked in a dirt floor chicken coop for 15 years.

I haven't done a complete resto on the car but it needed paint and an engine rebuild, which included dropping the tank for cleaning. I looked forward to dropping the tank because Vettes tradionally have their build sheet glued to the top of the tank. Well of course there was no tank sticker or even remnants of one.

Several years later someone suggested feeling around way up under the dash between the speedo and tachometer gauges. This space is extremely tight and small in a late model Corvette. Unbelievably, using the tips of my two of my fingers like a tweezers, I felt paper! After some careful extraction the rolled up build sheet came out looking as perfect as a new reproduction. I guess the moral of the story is you never know you may be luckier than you think.
Cars owned:
1968 Dodge Charger, 48k orig. miles, family owned since new.
Not a Hemi, a mini-hemi 340.

found mine in the vertical part of the back seat, not where your ass goes.  the one from the ass part of the back seat was removed by the previous owner (told me) but he must have lost it... car still has original carpet, so I might even find another before it's all said and done.

There was oneunder the bottom of the back seat, one behind the top of the back seat, and one behind the glove box,  This car has the original carpet so I would not be surprised if there wasn't at least one under there,

I looked for one under the rear seat of a '74 and found a nice mice nest. Hoping some other spots yield better results.
