i am finishing putting my drive tran together and wondering what stall converter to use. i am putting a 440 in a 72. i have a 727 that has been rebuilt with all new and a shift kit. the motor is bored thirty thou,  ross 80762 pistons (11.5 comp?), 906 heads with 1.80 exhast valves with hard seats and very little porting the cam is mopar purple shaft with .484 lift (312 p4120235). the car will be used to show off and make lots of noise, a few passes on the strip but mostly to shut my friend who has a 69 camero. i am running 4.10 with sure grip. i am not worried about feul i know where to get the good stuff.

With that cam and those gears i would be looking at a 10in Turbo Action converter.  :2thumbs:

3000 stall is nice, borderline for daily driver but you can still drive them without issue, just run a trans temp gauge to be safe.  i have a few friends runnign 4k's with no problem

My advice, don't make the usual mistake of rating a converter by advertised stall speed alone....spend a few bucks and make a call to the converter maker of your choice and tell them what you have and want to do.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

The Turbo Action converters are very efficient....very little slippage and they feel pretty much like a stock converter. Call Paul @ Turbo Action.... but i wouldn't be surprised if he recommended the 10in converter for your combination.  :Twocents:
