How to store a Mopar outside?

OK here we go,
I am going to purchase a Mopar this weekend. The Mopar has never seen snow or salt & has been garaged it's entire life, awesome chrome and excellent paint. :yesnod:
Question is I am going to have to store the car outside for a few months until my newer bigger gagrage is built. This is also going to be my driver this summer.  I live in Ohio & the car will not be driven in snow or salt, rain sometimes. There is currently snow here in Cleveland so some snow will get on this Mopar until it gets nice here. It will see no road salt, I am trailering the Mopar home.
I have always kept my Charger in a garage so this is weird to me.  What is the best thing to do to keep the chrome nice and not start ant rust? Should I purchase a car cover for when it rains or just let the rain get on the car? The car will be able to be stored in a garage in about 4 months.
This sounds stupid but I do not want to ruin the chrome and start any rust on a rust free Mopar.
I posted a pic of the car, a 74' Satellite

Rent a garage,a storage unit or an enclosed trailer. Car covers are the worst idea, they hold more moisture in than they keep out. Plus, in the wind they are constantly rubbing on the paint. What are you going to do when the hail storms start up this spring?
Leaving this car outside for any amount of time, even overnight is a bad Idea.

I used a Cover-IT http://www.shelterlogic.com/ for about a year. It was 12' x 20'. I put it on a 6" gravel base and made sure the drainage was good all around it. I also drove the car onto a piece of 6 mil poly and covered it with a quality car cover by Beverly Hills car covers http://www.beverlyhillsmotorsport.com/bhmotor/carcovers/bhmcustomcovers.html. Put a bunch of Bounce dryer sheets in the interior and all was fine.

I sold the enclosure, when I was done, for almost what I paid for it.

I agree. Cover It shelters are a great buy for the money: base model in the 12 x 20 size is around 4-500 beans. If you're erecting it on dirt or grass and don't want to commit to excavation and gravel, the "quick and dirty" technique is to lay down some tarps and put 4x8 sheets of plywood over that. The tarps will block the moisture from the ground. The guy who sold me mine also recommended putting vents at either end to ward off moisture build up as well. I built my whole car in one. I had it for 6 years and sold it for $200 to my neighbor after I built my 3 car garage. Hint, use all the anchors provided as I've heard of them flying away. Also be diligent about heavy snow removal. Good luck and, oh, nice car.

:iagree:

Just if you rent a storage unit, buy 4 cheap sheets of plywood and a tarp to put on the floor before you back the car in. The wood will keep any moisture from gathering. You can see it under my Charger which is in a storage unit.

Rent one of those garage units.

Thats what I'd do. Especially if it's only going to be for a few months.

No worth the risk of someone spotting it and ripping it off.

Just my opinion

:iagree:Get the car inside, as stated above there may reasons not to leave it outside.
Have you seen my old '69 Charger??

If it's only going to be for a few months then rental storage would probably be best. The only thing bad about that is not being within earshot of your car in case of break-ins, fire, whatever. But it's only for a few months. If it were longer I'd recommend one of those air bubble thingies like what Big Block Sam has. They last for years and sell for $400-$600, which is probably going to be equal to about three month's rent. Here's me asking about it recently: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,23618.0.html

Wow,
Thanks for all the help. I I am going to try the Car Shelter. It will be at least a year now until we have the bigger garage up. I can set that car shelter up so that the car is sitting on pavement. I will use the shelter in the Spring,Summer & Fall & then rent a storage unit for the Winter.
I really do thank you guys for the help. :yesnod:

Nice car...and may I suggest you keep it JUST the way it is, you NEVER see a pure satellite anymore, EVERYONE turns them into road runner clones

Thanks Mopar buddies. I know it is not a Charger but it will be a nice driver this summer & I will not have to rush on the paint on my 73' Rally. It is in my mom's garage for now. Thank god for mom.  :yesnod:
Now I have to figure out how to store the Satellite at my place. The Charger is sleeping in my 1 car garage until my bigger garage gets built this fall.
