Dash Frame / Column Paint.

I'm restoring my Steering Column and Dash Frame from my 68 Charger. 
The color is Black. Can someone tell me what Color Code and where can I get the correct color and paint???
Also any prep tips would be greatly appreciated.

It is Black Suede Textured Paint, you can't by it off the shelf in a spray can you have to order it and shoot it with a gun.I think Mopaints carry it.

I used SEM brand trim black.Available in spray bombs.If your going concours judging might not be good enough for the judges.Thats if they even notice.

I just did my dash.  Had it chemically dipped so bare metal.  I used organosol mixed from the paint store, don't know the PPG fromula but it's still available.  It is very textured.  The mix they had had some metallic in it, but in my application, I liked it.  Going on pepper grey charger.  If I were not going concourse, I would try using SEM texture spray then trim black.  Sorry no pics, but maybe next week.  Mike

Good timing.  I just finished both of mine. I lightly sanded the dash frame (it was in good shape). Cleaned it with PRE from Eastwood.  Then used Rustoleum primer (black) 2 coats over everywhere to seal it in.  Then I came back with several coats of Totallyauto Satin Black.  The first few coats went on in a regular fashion then I went on to dust the front and top from about 2 ft away to create the "suede" look.  Did the same for the column, but with much less texture.  Warning though, the suede part of it uses up quite a bit of paint. I used 3-4 cans to finish the dash.  I am happy with the way it turned out.

I'm a bit confused guys, the restoration guide says that the instrument panel is painted the same colour as the interior, with the exception of white. Does this mean that my dash top, which faces the windscreen, should be green to match the interior?

Thanks for the comments!  I will post more pics as I move along. As far as the dash frame is concerned, from what Ive seen, you are correct (Cayman) it should be the same color.

Yes its supposed to be with a green interior,but not the same shade.There are different shades for various items.Your dash pads will be one shade and the dash a slightly different shade.
