I was watching the history channel the other night and was sick to my stomach after hearing about that cult way back that had all the member drink poison and the ones that wouldn't they would hold them down and injected it in them with a needle and was wondering if there was any sick cults going on today like that, brain washing people into doing goofy things.  Do you remember the one gal like back in the 80's who was interviewed on TV about she was some 5000 year old warrior turned good that took over her body and she had all these people fallowing her like she was some god or something and she had a goofy accent, you just wanted to reach through the TV set and give her the most hard open hand slap across the face with you right and when she starts falling down you come with a left fist into her nose...........

There's some idiot in Miami that claims he is Jesus or something that has a bunch of weak minded idiots following him around and he has convinced them to wear clothes and get tattoos with a 666 on them(?!?!!?!?!?!?) and these idiots are more than willing to follow this moron.

He has made several claims about himself that have already been proven to be lies..
MAYBE he should read the bible and see what it says about false prophets!

There's also the global warming kool-aid drinkers who follow al gore and his inconvenient BS.

I live in a neighborhood full of cult members.  They call themselves evangelical Christians.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

Incidentally, the two cults referred to in the original post are the Jonestown cult and the Unarians.  The woman is "Uriel"

There are LOTS of different cults out there.  The best known being the Scientologists and the Unarians.  Some of the more imfamous ones were the Branch Davidians and the guys who killed themselves in the mansion (they were the followers of Marshall Applewhite).

Amway could also, in many ways, be classified as a cult.

If you watch Dr. Phil..he has had on people who left the group Children of the Rainbow (I believe that is what it was called, they have changed their name too many times for me to remember).  They have been around since like the sixties.  They are horrible to the kids born into this cult.  The leaders step-son killed himself and taped most of it.  It is so sad.

Yep, I heard Mojo somebody was their fearless leader. :icon_smile_cool:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

that's where the saying "drinking the kool aid" comes from.  used to describe when someone is so blinded by whatever influence (be it jim jones, the radical left, the radical right, or love or whatever) that they can be convinced of anything.  even really stupid stuff.

Bill O'rielly uses the phrase a lot.  If mrs smith catches her husband cheating and he says no, he fell and his private parts meshed with some womans private parts repeatedly by accident, and she beleives him.....she's 'drinking the kool aid"

And of course, what they drank wasn't actually Kool-Aid, it was Flavor Aid.

I liked the Cult's first album, but all the others seemed to have been over produced. Didn't like their cover of Born To Be Wild at all.   ::)

That's on "Electric"  "Love Removal Machine" is the best cut on that album...very "Rolling Stones-ish."

Their best album as "The Cult" has to be "Love."  Check out their stuff as "Southern Death Cult."  EXCELLENT stuff.

Yeah, I have the first one "Love" on vinyl, it's great. I have one or two CD's, "Electric" & another, but didn't care for them. I did get to see them one night in NYC, but the opening act didn't start until almost 1 AM so by the time The Cult came on it was almost 2 AM & I was beat. I stayed for a short time & split.

Oh, the topic is different now, must be the wine.

I know, I know. I'm a church-going Christian and they annoy me as much as you. Probably more, actually, because you aren't saddled with trying to explain how your views differ from theirs. :rotz:
