Hi Guys, Mopar noob here , who needs some info from guys that know. I have a friend who is looking for a T/A block. He says they are identified by the letters T/A embossed next to the 340 in the block casting. What makes this block different and were they only used in AAR cars.  I found a block with the casting numbers 2780930-340-6. What is this? I was told that this is a 6-pak block. If so, is it different than a T/A block.  Was the T/A block used in several years.......if the latter is a 6-pak block what years were the used........thanks for any help......

The TA block has extra casting in the main saddles so that you can install four bolt mains.  I believe it was also stress relieved.  As stock it comes with two bolts.  The casting number on the block will say 3577130TA-340.

The -6 refers to the casting. 1 would be the first cylinder mold used, then 2, etc.

1968 Dodge Charger, 48k orig. miles, family owned since new.
Not a Hemi, a mini-hemi 340.
