Too easy of a clue  :P Staying with my sister, brother in law and two nephews in Abu Dhabi for two weeks. Dubai is about an hour away. The amount of development out here is unreal.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Last week on the Discovery channel, they had the building of this island. Very interesting. They said the idea for building these islands were literally drawn on a napkin at a dinner meeting, and litterally by the very next morning, the construction project was under way. That is how much money that country has. If they want it, they build it no questions asked. Their using 150 different stone quarries, and t hey have a ship that goes out to sea 150 miles and dredges the bottom for the sand to put on top of the stone.

they're also building a couple of bigger ones and a group of islands that are supposed to resemble a map of the world. Check out the link in my previous post.

Apprently the rulers of Dubai are trying to do this while they can, because they will be running out of oil  (ie. money) relatively soon and they want to turn the place into a tourist attraction.

I wonder if that's a tsunami area? ??? That would suck to have all the islands wiped out in one hour.

That pic of all the cranes on the buildings is hilarious. :smilielol:

No tsunamis, if I remember correctly, but they do get some pretty violent storms...that's why they have to build those halos around the islands to act as breakwaters.

I was out of town for a couple of days and missed this one.

Cool stuff - I'd love to see this place one day.   :yesnod:
