I thought it might be interesting to see what kind of political diversity we have here at the site... :icon_smile_question:

I am republican and have no problems saying that but I try to get along with everyone no matter the view they have and I do try to respect their reasoning for whatever they choose.  I just don't deal with people that are overboard or try to push their political religion on me.  Then I'll just shoot them and be done with it :icon_smile_big:

Many of you already know this, but I'm a proud twenty year, active-duty Air Force "Reagan Conservative".

And I'm proud to say to Hillary that, yes- in fact I am part of that "vast right-wing conspiracy!"

Before we go any further with this poll, can I just at least ASK that we all keep this poll and subsequent comments CIVIL PALLEEEEASE?!

I don't really want to see this end up being locked down.

There's plenty of time to start throwing mud around at each other- hell the election year is still nine months out for cripes sake!

Let's just keep this post on an even keel and not get carried away.

:iagree: I'm not trying to start any wars here, just curious

Khyron

With me it's a depends on the Issues.

I guess I'm more of an independent.  For example, I Strongly support the war in Iraq, but I'm upset about the presidents immigration policy's. I don't blindly believe anything one party tells me. I listen to both sides, so some research on stuff that interests me, Then make my own EDUCATED opinion.

and for the next polls,

I'm an Atheist
I'm Pro Choice
I'm Pro Drilling Alaska
I'm humored easily
I will say just about anything to get a rise from someone who is a wide open target.

68, I don't think that the political landscape of having two power-house parties will ever change in our lifetime.

Before the Dems vs. the GOP took over in the middle of the 19th century, it was the Whigs vs. the Dems.

And then before those parties faced off, it was the combination Democrat-Republican party vs. the Federalists.

So, what we see today has been in place since the 1864 election of Abraham Lincoln; the founding father of the GOP.

I'm a politcal science history nerd, what can I say?

you know what..i just want to say that my neighbor says that anyone who picks a side is an idiot.  No one really goes 100% for what one side or another says/does.  In a way I guess she is right, but I am a registered republican and have voted republican as long as I have been able to vote.  I personally love Bush..(the president not the other thing), because he has given the military the largest pay raises the military has ever seen.  All republicans take care of us military vs. the dems that could care less about us (or so it seems).  clinton= no new pay raises----bush=top pay raises in both basic pay and housing allownace (still not up to the civilian counterparts, but darn close).  I am a little ticked about his lying to everyone to get us into Iraq and understand that he did it so he can compare himself to daddy, but on the other hand---Saddam is dead and there is one less asshole out there trying to kill us.  But let's not forget the real reason we are at war.....Get Ossama!!!!!!!   So the dems. say that they are going to pull all he troops out of Iraq since there is so much against it....OK let's create another Vietnam people....let's have thousands of people dye for nothing...I say if you're going to pull them all out then bomb the whole dang thing so that we aren't back here in 10-15 yrs. fighting some other asshole.  Let's stay the whole course and finish this thing the right way...I mean, I don't like my husband being over there, away from me and the three kids with the possibility of dying (along with most of my friend's husbands), but if we pull out now...there will still be civil unrest and then we will have to go back in and more people will end up dying.

I believe in traditional marriage and dont want anything gay within 75 ft of me (still, I believe they are people too and shouldnt be physically hurt and should have the right to make very serious mistakes about their eternal progress) I believe very little of what is written in most newspapers or announced on network news. I believe in the importance of suppressing middle eastern terrorism (even at the cost of the lives of those Ive known) at all costs. So, what would you call me?

I am a proud and true conservative, but I can't help the feeling that the Republican party has left me. I can't think of a single one that I would like to vote for, they couldn't round up a spine or a pair of stones among the whole bunch of them. Spineless pansies who won't fight back. When someone on the other side of the aisle starts throwing tar and feathers, the target is thrown overboard by his own side, and the only ones that are left are the ones hiding under their desks in fear of being tarred and feathered. I think the election results of '06 are not an indication that America likes the dems ideas better, it is a reflection of the fact that a lot of us conservatives just plain stayed home because the current crop of republicans is just a guarantee that the dems are going to get everything they want. I am not one of the ones that stayed home, I held my nose and voted against the other side anyway, but if the election of '08 is between Clinton and McCain, I will stay home.

TruckDriver

I'm neither. I don't care about who is on what side of the party as long as they do their job and do it well.

I believe that bush was forced into a lose lose situation.  He was told by all the "intelligence" agencies that saddam had WMD's.  if he hadn't gone in, everyone would say he was being a pussy, but now that he did, we all say he's trigger happy.  on top of that, how much power does the president have? yeah, he can declare war under certain circumstances, but congress, whos been mostly democrats, allowed him to go in, and approved a whole lotta funding for this operation.  also, we DID get saddam out of power and dead, didn't we? after he was gone, they unearthed mass graves totaling over 300,000 victims of his gencide against his own damn people.  I'd like iraq to step up and get a hold of itself asap, but I don't think bush did anything wrong. war isn't perfectly predictable, and it's not like he did this on a whim.  people should blame congress and the cia as much as, if not more than, bush.  I'd like to see all of those troops head over to pakistan where osama is hiding out, rip his head off and bring it home with them.  this iraq thing was a time bomb that happened to go off while bush was in office, in my opinion.  Plus, im 98% sure that after all the bad PR republicans are getting these days that the democrats will take the next election anyway. I support bush.

41husk

I am amazed this has not been locked yet!  I am not nor have I ever been a fan of the Busch administration.  I stongly supported Bill Clinton, but would not support Hillary.  Since I got out of the military I have voted Democrat the majority of the time.  My wife would vote for any idiot if he was a democrat running against a Republican, and if she is around I don't discuss republicans I would support.  I am in no way afraid to discuss it, I would just rather avoid the arguement.  That being said I would have supported McCain, and may do so if he is the republican candidate (with out a doubt if Hillary is the Democratic candidate).  So what am I? confused?  Obama is someone I have not completly made a decision on yet, but it seems he has some fresh ideas.

How do you know they were happy the way they were?  I don't know that they are happy now but I don't know that they aren't either.  Was there a poll before the war?  Since?
Maybe it would be better if all presidents just spent their time in closets off of the oval office getting kinky with interns.  That's keeping the nations interests at heart.  ::)

Thanks for that rant...It relly is true what you said and we all have to take into consideration that it is congress not the president who makes all the rules.  The president has no poer at all...that's a democracy...he can pick and choose things, but without congress's approval he can't even take a crap.
