Is $19,500 a fair price for this car? I'm going to look at it tonight.

"Originally a 318 now has a 440. Auto, p/s, 3.23 suregrip 8.75 posi rear. Red with Black bucket seat and console interior. Original southern car with only one repaint. 111k miles, new gas tank, new flowmaster exhaust with tips and rebuilt trans. Runs, drives, and looks very good!"

Yes, if it's all solid underneath and doesn't need a thing to drive and enjoy.  I say buy it.
You definitely couldn't restore one for that considering time, parts, labor, paint, and body work that would be needed.

Is that a dealer tag on that car, could be negotiating room there if it is.  Just doesn't look like a NH tag to me unless your vintage tags are way different from daily driver.
Good luck

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Hell Ya thats a deal. :yesnod: :yesnod:  I spent $20,000 on restoring my 68 318 field car (now 440).  And i did all the work myself except for the $5000 paint job.  And i spent 2 years doing this work.

That car looks very good, if there is minimal rust, i say buy it.

Looks pretty good from the pics. If it's all rust and bondo free, it's probably a good deal. Looks like Mass plates in the pics to me- is that where you found it?

Those first two pics look familiar from somewhere...maybe a member's car?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Sorry, I didn't read the request for the pic until just now. I just got back from looking at it.

I passed.

Drivers side floor has a crude patch, looks like someone just laid the new metal in the hole and carpeted over it.

Trunk has a few small holes in the center section. Might be savable but I think a wire brush would open up new areas.

Both rear quarters patched below the body line. Work is about 10 years old and looks decent, nothing new coming out. They replaced the trunk extensions with sheet metal as well.

He told me about those.

I found at least 2 frame patches. One at the end of the torsion bar section under the passenger door and another at the very rear on the passenger side. Lots of undercoating back there and in the rear wheel wells which makes me wonder what else might be hiding there. I saw a couple questionable spots even with the undercoating.

Had a Daytona wing on it at some point and the holes have plastic plugs in them. When i pushed on them from the inside of the trunk, they lifted right up. They're just sitting there.

A couple of other minor issues. It's not a bad car but the patches that I found and the work that still needs to be done combined with the heavy undercoating makes me think that 19.5 is a little steep.

Opinions?

Definitely lower than 19k now but still a good looking ride.  Offer him 13 and see what he says.

Talk to Wakko (Ian) and see what he paid for his car.  His car doesn't have the rust/metal work issues that you describe.  And his car is almost an exact copy of this one.

Given that description, I'd agree with 12-13K at best. It hardly sounds rust free, and like you said, when you start fixing what you can see, what else will reveal itself?
