This is not automotive but I thought maybe someone with electrical knowledge would help out. Ive got this new compressor and its single phase, 220 V. My wiring is Black, Red, white and green. Compressor has black, white and green. Which wires do I connect to which.

No offense man, but if your asking a question like that, its probably better to just hire an electrician to do it instead of frying your brand new compressor.

Read this it might answer your question.
It was easier then me typing it all.

And don't make the mistake of thinking that white wire(neutral) isn't hot just because it's neutral.  If it is an existing house circuit wire you are using it could be hooked up somewhere else in the house and zappo you get shocked to the bejesus.

Be careful and turn off all the power to the house block you are playing with.  Also do you already have the 220 breaker installed?  Be extremely careful when you put your hands in that ckt brkr box.  One false move and you are dead.  I would suggest turning off the main breaker, and then still be extremely careful.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?
