Are all 22" radiator shrouds the same?

I've been chasing down a running hot problem for a while, after doing a search here, I believe that my shroud might not be the right one. There was a post here that said that the shroud should fit the fan pretty closely. The shroud that I bought at a swap last summer bolts up to my 22" radiator perfectly, but there is 2" clearance on both sides and 2.5" clearance at the top between the fan blades and the shroud. Are there different 22" shrouds? Year one has a 22" shroud for $115. I just don't want to order it and find out it's the same as what I have.

Shrouds will have a part number moulded into it.Sounds like you need a larger diameter fan.

The 68 22in shroud is metal and very close, and does not do much good. 69 and 70 were plastic, and were deeper.

I can't get a bigger fan in there because there is only about a 1/2" clearance at the bottom. 8 Wheeler- my shroud is plastic. Could I have one from a different year?

I am sorry what year is you car? almost all 22in 68's rads had 1in wide 3in long shroud brackets
bolted on the radiator bracket, that would be the metal unit. If your rad has the shroud that
bolts on the face facing the engine, it will be plastic.

The metal shroud only sticks out about 1in.

Does it have the correct 22" 053 radiator in it

It has 2898  031 stamped on the top. Do I have the wrong radiator? I just had this damn radiator recored into a 4 core last summer for $400.

The 031 radiator is for a '68 A-body, 318-340 w/AC. There are a few 22" shrouds out there that should fit the radiator, one is #2785614 but it all depends on how it attaches to the radiator, good luck.

Anybody have a pic of the correct 22" 2 piece metal shroud and the correct brackets to mount it? This is for my 68 Charger 440 magnum, 4 speed.
