does anyone know how to remove tortion bars without a special tool ,would two 2x4 blocks bolted together sandwiching the bar work or would it just slide and does anyoneif anyone sales tor bars for a 73 charger.ive herd you could use a pipe wrench but it would mess the bar up.

A pipe wrench is a bad idea.  The wood will likely slip if they are in their really tight but you can give it a try.  You can order a torsion bar tool for around 30 bucks.  And I believe you can still order the torsion bars from Chrysler.  It may be a Mopar Performance part number but they're still out there.

if completely dissassembling the front end and your spindle is off.... remove front bolt off strut rod, front bolt off Lower control arm, take all the torsion bar tension off with the bolt at the bottom of the LCA, and remove the clip at the end of torsion bar, now take a long pry bar between the LCA and K-frame, everything will slide back, torsion bar, LCA with strut rod attached. After sliding back take and grab torsion bar with one hand and take a hammer and knock the LCA off the end then slide the torsion bar out. Thats how i took mine out and didn't have to use one tool on torsion bar. But like I said this method only works if your dissassembling the whole suspension.

Hope this helps,
Jason

Personally I got tired of jury rigging and bit the bullet and bought the tool.
If you were close to me I'd gladly loan it to you but they aren't that much and well worth it in my book.
I think I got mine from PST of one of those outlets.

If you wanna send me $40.00 via Paypal plus the shipping costs including return ship I'll loan you mine and refund your $40.00 when I get it back.
Add the cost for a ball joint tool and I'll send that too if it helps and you still need it. I think I have a ball joint socket here too.

Gee, I should go into non profit business!  ;D

It works for religious cults and a lot of people say we're like a cult.  You could become a charitable religion and get some kind of tax free status.  The Church of Charger.  :icon_smile_big:

Yeah, and instead of worshiping the cross we'd have the pentastar! ;D   :punkrocka:

I  got them out but it sucked real bad, i took th whole lower control arm off, everything that could go wrong did go wrong.first on one side the nut on the front of the kmember that holds the lower control arm evertime i would turn  it would move the whole shaft and spin in the  LCA i just grinded it off thank god i have 3 spares,  then one side i couldnt get the t bar out of the frame, no clip, i tried cleaning it with WD-40 in the socket and no luck .i ended up taking it out with the section of the frame that bolts in.the other side the damn control arm woulnt come off ended up with a VICTORY  but i just hope i didnt screw up my t bars i was kind of rough getting them out if i have to do this again ill by the 30 dallor tool it will save me from killing my car.7 hours of getting pissed off or 30 bucks

two blocks of aluminum bolted together would work..    you will need to grind a "V" shape into both sides for the bar to fit...      Aluminum is the key...      it will not scrather the steel...     the aluminum will give before the steel is scratched.
