Pretty big leap thinking that..........
A. Hamlin would go to a yoyota team with having been as competitive as he has this year.
B. Gibbs would actually leave Chevy after the success rate with them and the yoyotas lack there of.
C. Chevy would let one of its biggest stars (Tony Stewart) get away that easily. Yeah he's not having the greatest year, but he will win another championship before Hamlin will win his first.

I honestly don't understand the love for the yotas anyway. yotas suck. it is their very existence that has caused these car of tomorrow atrocities and Nascar gave them unprecedented access to what the other teams had at Nascar's "R&D" center. It is the very existence of those cars that one of the big things that made the sport great has been removed, INNOVATION!

Yeah it was not denied that they gave the yoyota's engineering development group among other things, a Yates Ford engine, an Evernham Dodge Engine and a whole Joe Gibbs racing Tony Stewart CAR! YEAH a whole group of stuff from the top teams from each manufacturer, THEN yoyotas whined and cried for a "common template" racecar and Na$car has basically given them the keys to the candy store.

Dodge sure as hell never got that consideration from the money hungry bunch in Daytona!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and by this time in 01, the Dodges had threatened to win several races let a lot of laps and had a LOT of top 5s. Their first win was right around the corner. Stuff the yoyotas have yet to accomplish.

Yeah, I heard next year that the whole yoyota camp sucks so bad, next year will have Kirby Vacuum cleaners as an associate sponsor !!!!

Rest assured Na$car will make sure a yoyota wins before too long. What is that smell? Is that a RULE CHANGE I smell coming? Most likely to help yoyotas non competitive nature.

The truck series is fast becoming a yoyota benefit series and the cup series will go that way sooner or later. They come in and rewrite the rules instead of playing by the same ones every body else has to use by using their checkbook.  HOPEFULLY they are headed for the same kind of sucky time they have had in Indy and F1.

Innovation in NASCAR -   - they're still using carburetors.  When was the last time you saw a car roll off the assembly line with a carburetor?   :scratchchin:

FYI - The COT has been in development since 2001 and it wasn't until 2005 when NASCAR finally asked for input from the OEM's.  How can one say that it was Toyota that demanded it?   :shruggy:

Once again, I'll state that I don't care what type of car races or wins in NASCAR - I just want to be entertained with a good competitive race.   :yesnod:

What I do see is a bunch of folks that go on about how much they hate the foreign cars and their involvement with NASCAR, the fact that they'll never win etc., etc., etc....

I see this as a fear of competition and the truth is well known deep in their gut that Toyota will win races, but many are afraid to admit it.   :pity:

Really, I would not be to sure that JGR do not go to Toyota. I can only imagine the outrage of Stewert fans if this happens.

More on Gibbs to Toyota...done deal? Extending Stewart to 2011? UPDATE Toyota denied; Stewart possibly: Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota are "a done deal" for 2008, according to several sources, though team executives said otherwise. Apparently one hangup in the talks between the long-time Chevy operation (which features #20-Tony Stewart) and Toyota is a clause in Gibbs' current GM [Chevy] contract which bars the team from negotiating with any other manufacturer until the contract is up. So sources said Gibbs has had to go through an agent in the talks. Gibbs has a major negotiating session scheduled with General Motors in the next two weeks, which should provide the 'yea,' or 'nay' on that side of the issue. One of the big reasons for Toyota's intense interest in Gibbs Racing is Gibbs' engine program, headed by Mark Cronquist, one of the best in the business. Gibbs is also renegotiating his contract with Stewart to extend it another two years. The contract runs through the end of 2009; the new package would run through the end of 2011.(Winston Salem Journal)(6-23-2007)
UPDATE: J.D. Gibbs would like to sign #20-Tony Stewart to an extension that will keep the two-time Nextel Cup champion at Joe Gibbs Racing at least through 2011. Stewart's contract at JGR runs through 2009. But with a talented stable of young talent in the developmental pool and Stewart joking about retirement several times this season, the president of JGR would like to find out just what his marquee driver wants. "Hey, we want Tony to be here for a long time,'' Gibbs said before Sunday's race at Infineon Raceway. "If he said at the end of '09 I'm done, officially done, hey, we understand that. Let's go get a plan. The reality is, I think he wants to go [on]. How long does he want to go? I want all of those guys on the same page.'' Gibbs denied reports that he has a deal to leave General Motors for Toyota. "I've got to be honest,'' he said. "That's just not true. That's speculation. We're sitting down with the GM guys [in a few weeks]. We've had conversations with them. I don't think any GM team has signed a deal yet. That was kind of frustrating.'' JGR has been with GM for 16 seasons between Pontiac and Chevrolet. While Gibbs plans to discuss a new deal, he never ruled out talking to Toyota. Gibbs also didn't rule out talking to driver Kyle Busch, who became a free agent when it was announced Dale Earnhardt Jr. would replace him at Hendrick Motorsports next season.(ESPN.com)(6-25-2007)

Yep... Blaney was running 9th with 14 laps to go and the 38 car hit him hard
in the left fender forcing the 22 to pit and fix the tire rub. NOT Blaney or Toyota's fault.

This " I hate Toyota in NASCAR " stuff is flat out stupid.

It reminds me of the " I hate Yankee's in NASCAR " mentality.
Dave is from Hartford, Ohio. There, I just gave you another reason to bash Blaney.  :2thumbs:

I actually really like Dave Blaney, if a Toyota is gonna win, I hope it is Blaney. I have respect for the guy and think he is a WAY underrated driver. I wish he had gotten a chance in an Evernham car or a Penske or Ganassi car!

The70RT

Terry Labonte is in the race.43rd of course. He's starting last on the old geezer provisional. I guess if Mikey is going to be sitting in the bleachers he probably feels better seeing his car out there. I know Toyota lovers - Toyota got their first victory today in the Busch series. Blaney the best toyota starts 27th. Dodge has 5 in the top 6. Maybe the Dodges can get a win. GO KASEY :drive:

It looks like Tony Stewart, Hamlin and Kyle Busch will all be Toyota buddys with Mikey next year. Rumors are Gibbs and Toyota are a done deal for next year. And for a little more proof, for the last 2 weeks, all of Stewarts, Hamlins and Yeleys souvenir trailers have had all merchandise 50 percent off. Say goodbye to your fans boys.  :nana:

UPDATE 2: Kyle Busch has finally decided where he will race next season, agreeing to a deal to drive the #18 Interstate Batteries machine for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008 and beyond. Busch will replace J.J. Yeley, who will move to Wood Brothers/JTG Racing next season to steer the #21 Ford. Busch made his decision after recently narrowing the field to three teams; Gibbs, Dale Earnhardt, Inc., and Evernham Motorsports. An official announcement is expected within the next 2-3 weeks.
In addition, JGR will jump from Chevrolet to the Toyota camp beginning in 2008, joining Michael Waltrip Racing, Bill Davis Racing and Team Red Bull on the list of teams running Toyota Camrys. Neither Busch nor JGR have made any official comment on the move, but Gibbs officials have already informed Hall of Fame Racing that they will not continue to provide the team with engines next season, prompting Hall Of Fame to contact Richard Childress Racing about a similar engine-supply deal for 2008.(Motorsports Soapbox)(8-6-2007)

So any ideas on what NASCAR will do after pocono? Will they request that Busch leave his car at home next year when they return to Pocono after he walked all over the field? Wasn't it a couple of years ago that Gordon did the same thing, and they wouldn't let him bring the car back at the next race? I say if you can run away with a win, then do it. And make everyone else play catch up.

I agree a good race is fun to watch, but no reason to penalize anyone for doing that much of a better job than the rest of them did.

I  like Kurt since he is Ryan Newmans team mate. It was nice to see a Dodge that strong, and pulll away from the field like he did. With the addition of Pat Tryson, that team has really got their stuff together.

I doubt they'll do anything.  The car you speak of about Jeff Gordon was called T-rex and was a one time deal that Ray Evernham put together for the all-star race.  The reason it was impounded was because it was obviously different.  If I remember officials said everything was there and met the rules they just weren't all in the usual places.  It sticks in my mind that parts of the frame, rollcage, etc were just different (ie. laid back, shifted, whatever).  Nascar took it for their own education.  I think Ray did an interview about the car once (I can't seem to find it now) and he said the car was just waaaay ahead of its time.  Everything that was on that car teams eventually did it just was so advanced and happened all at once with T-Rex.

Makes me wanna see the days of Smokey again.  There was one time I know that Nascar confiscated his fuel tank for some reason.  They then drove the car back to the garage with no fuel tank.  Not pushed.  Started and drove.  I bet the officials were scratching their head on that one.
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

I did not think UPS would last a year, but they are going to. Looks like they are dumping Mikey at the end of the year.

MWR to two teams? to lose UPS? Toyota is expected to pair down Michael Waltrip racing from a three-car effort to a two-car squad, shifting some of that support to JGR's three-car team of Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin. Dale Jarrett is said to be seriously considering retirement, trading in his helmet for a microphone as a television analyst, which would leave MWR with Michael Waltrip and David Reutimann. There has been talk that UPS, unhappy with the lack of exposure the company has received this year from Jarrett's struggles to make races, is looking at other teams for 2008 sponsorship with Roush Fenway Racing a target, possibly for Greg Biffle's #16 entry.(RacingOne)(8-8-2007)
