Oh man, leaving the scene, 2AM, fell asleep.  Hope he wasn't drinking.  But that story has all the tell tale signs. :rotz:
:iagree:

At this rate, You have to wonder if he will even have a team next year. Like money always does, I'm sure it is putting a major strain on his marrige.

"I am really embarrassed about the accident, but I feel fortunate that I wasn't hurt," the two-time Daytona 500 winner said Tuesday.

"For 25 years I have had a great driving record. I consider myself to be a courteous and safe driver on public roads. I never expected to fall a sleep behind the wheel of a car."

"An attempt to locate him that morning was unsuccessful, but police reached him later Saturday. Waltrip was not arrested"

Huh, couldn't locate him till later Saturday? where was he? perhaps hiding? why? very supicious.
I highly doubt any normal person would have left the sceene (regardless of embarrasment) unless there was some other darker reason to do so.

He says he considers himself to be a courteous and safe driver on public roads. If thats the case then why did you leave the scene Mike?

bye bye Mikie.

I work with a guy that his daughter is Dale Jr's secretary. So, Keith has been in the pits several times at several different races. He told me a few times the Mikey is a real jack ass in person when the cameras are not around.

It's kinda hard to think he's not gay. Maybe they are swingers? Where was Buffy at 2 AM :scratchchin: He probably is acting like a jackass by now since 2007 hasn't been squat for him.

Shakey

Maybe he was carrying 2 kilos of pure coke and he ran away to hide it.

Maybe he had Michael Jackson in the backseat and wanted to get him away from the scene so no one would ever know.

Maybe he was on his way home from a KKK meeting and wanted to get his robe into the wash immediately to get the blood stains out.

Maybe I'll send an e-mail to Buffy and ask her these questions, tell her about the site and ask her to join, tell us the truth and then we can ask her to post some pictures of herself.

Maybe......

wow, that is bad.  Good thing he wasn't hurt worse cause that could have been a horrible outcome, looking at that vehicle damage.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

The70RT

What a crash....it's a wonder he didn't kill himself.....Maybe he was out looking for SPEED........except his Toyota is what needs it :yesnod:

I heard a rumor...

I saw that D.J. is going to be an announcer on ESPN2 for the Busch race this weekend. Apperently, he needs a side job now.

I also copied this from Jayski's about Mikey...

"Michael Waltrip Charged After Vehicle Accident Saturday UPDATE 2: Statement from Waltrip: #55-Michael Waltrip is charged with reckless driving and failure to report an accident after a crash on Molly's Backbone Road in Catawba County. The Highway Patrol says Waltrip was driving about 70 miles per hour in the 55 mile-per-hour zone when he went off the right side of the road in a curve around 1:50 a.m. Saturday. His car then traveled back across the pavement and off the left side of the roadway, sliding sideways and striking a utility pole as it overturned. The car then rolled over and came to a rest on its side. Troopers said a witness saw Waltrip crawl out of the vehicle and leave the scene. When a trooper went to his home around 2:30 a.m. no one was there, but when he went back at 8 a.m. he found Waltrip, who admitted he'd fallen asleep at the wheel. Waltrip, with scratches on his face and some deep cuts on his finger, spoke with Eyewitness News about the crash. He said he was on his way home to Sherill's Ford from Charlotte. "I was almost home. I relaxed a little bit and ran off the road," he explained. "I woke up with gravel hitting the car and I tried to correct but it was too late. The seasoned driver says he instinctively got out of his car, and then decided to walk home because he often runs the route and was only a mile away. Waltrip will be in court in Newton on May 14.(WSOCTV.com)(4-10-2007)
UPDATE: Michael Waltrip was uninjured in a single car accident Friday night near his home in Sherrills Ford, N.C. The 43-year old was returning from Charlotte, N.C. when he fell asleep at the wheel within a mile of his home and ran off the road, striking a telephone pole. "I am really embarrassed about the accident, but I feel fortunate that I wasn't hurt," said Waltrip. "For 25 years I have had a great driving record. I consider myself to be a courteous and safe driver on public roads. I never expected to fall asleep behind the wheel of a car." The North Carolina Highway Patrol ticketed Waltrip for reckless driving (admitting to falling asleep at the wheel) and failure to notify authorities of an accident in a timely manner.(MWR PR)(4-10-2007)"

Troy

Man, haven't you guys ever watch a real road race? When you crash your car into the barrier you get out quickly, slog through the gravel pit, climb over the wall, and walk your butt all the way back to the pits. The safety crew is responsible for retrieving the car (or its pieces). Maybe he's practicing for CART or F1?

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

:haha: :haha: :smilielol:

Man, that was a helluva crash. It is possible he wasn't thinking clearly after getting his bell rung. Can't believe he walked away with only minor injuries.
Mikey has way too much on his plate. Building a new race shop, starting a new THREE CAR  NASCAR team, hiring an over the hill aging driver (no, not himself, DJ), and trying to drive one of the cars. He really should retire and put a young gun in the NAPA car before they yank the sponsorship.

The same thing happened to Scott Wimmer a few years ago. Crashed a Bill Davis P/U while drunk, ran home. Police found him hiding under his bed, after they arrested his wife for obstruction of justice.

Didn't someone say that Bill Elliott might jump into the #55? Wouldnt surprise me..Mikey is probably just waiting for DJ to use up all of his champion's provisionals anyway....

They were talking about the Scott Wimmer thing and comparing it to Waltrips accident on the NASCAR Sirius channel yesterday.  The question was: If you're a cop and you find a car totaled (with bloodstains), you don't just go to the owners house, knock on the door a couple of times and then leave and don't come back until your next shift starts at 8:00 pm the next night. It's not exactly a very good investigation.

BTW - Looks like Mikey will get to go home again...without even trying. Qualifying might get rained out.

I was watching one of the live shows on Speed this afternoon before practice, And someone in the background was holding a sign that said "Batman had the Joker, Mikey has Toyota"

They're going to attempt qualifing at 6:30 Central time.

Is that Mikey waving good bye to his nextel driving career?

I can't believe they would put another over the hill driver in a Mikey Waltrip car. As much as I love Bill Elliott he is way past his prime. Does anyone remember when Matt Kennseth filled in for Bill? Bills Dad had passed away and Kennseth filled in for him in Dover at the suggestion of Mark Martin. Kennseth was still a Busch driver back then. at the time Bill was lucky to get a top twenty finish. If the race that day hadn't been shortened by rain Kennseth might have scored a top five.

NH, It's a smart move for NAPA. They aren't getting their logo on TV on Sunday afternoon.

Bill Elliott is a past champion, he carries with him the "Champions Provisional".

That puts the 55 car in seven races. He doesn't need to qualify.

How much camera time do you think Bill Elliott driving the 55 would generate?

I always liked Bill too. But I don't wanna see him embaressed by driving a car that isn't cracked up to what NASCAR thought it would be.
