dealer plates

does anyone know how do dealers get their DLR plates? What's the criteria to get those plates, price, etc?

1. You have to be a dealer.
2. Nothing else matters if you aren't.

Seriously, in Ohio you have to be a licensed car dealer. I would assume it's like that in most states. I have no idea what the price is but it's not likely to be a whole lot more than buying regular plates.

If you need plates to transfer a car from Pa to another state. Pa has a transport tag that is good for 30 days. With proof of Driver's License and Insurance. I don't know if other states have those plates or not? I know you can get them from the Dodge Dealership here cause a friend of mine just did. They bought a car to take to Michigan for their daughter. Their daughter Faxed her info here to get the tags.

I tried checking with the Missouri DMV to see if they would let me use a historic Dealer plate under the Year-Of-Manufacture regulations, but they said "Nope".  Gotta be a registered dealer to get any such plate licensed, historic or not.

One year here in PA I bought and sold so many cars the registration agent suggested I get Dealer plates, but that was years ago.

here in new york you have to have dealer insurance and proof of a facility before they issue dealer plates- i have 2 one for my demo and one for test drives,as a manager i get more than one!
