Annie's 6 year old grandson told us there was a 69 Charger at his bus stop. We checked it out today. It was a 68 but what do you expect from a 6 year old?

Not Saturn rocket. The Charger "bulls-eye" logo was a theme that was copied throughout the styling exercise. Note the dash emblem, the door emblems, the side marker lights (even though they were on all '68 Chrysler products), and even the hubcaps in various incarnations.
I'll admit though, the '69 is my favorite, despite owning a '68.
It's just easier to not compare the two years of models.

i personally dont dee how people can like 69 70 lights better i dont hate them but the 68 ones just fit the car better IMO :icon_smile_cool:

Ghoste

I always saw the 68 lenses as being the odd one out in the first 9 model years of production.  They were round and all the rest had a long thin horizontal theme going.

PocketThunder

Werent the 68 taillights "borrowed" from the corvettes?

Oh no, I think it's obvious proof that Chevrolet had a few spies sneaking around the Dodge studios.  It's clear to me that the Corvette stole ideas from the Charger for 68.  :yesnod:

Brock Samson

vette had two small round tail lights since '62... :-\

Ghoste

They didn't have the sail panels and swoopy side profile.

The '68 Charger tail panel is the best one of them all, hands down.

wingcar builder

that's what i've always thought too Doug. the 68' had a true 60's look.it's like the Bullitt Charger, that was the most sinister looking car ever on film. :yesnod:

i dunno, but  i think the '69s simply looked mean while the '68s looked racy like a ferrari,.. and by the way the '68 corvette was copying the last ferrari GTOs from 1964...  road and track had a side by side comparo when they came out...
so what about this car?.. Ya' ring the door bell?..
