Throttle Linkage and Cooling Fan Questions....Help me PLEASE

So my charger is pretty close to being ready to fire up...except for a few things.

First of all, I don't have any kind of throttle linkage.  All I have is the cable that runs from inside (connected to gas pedal assembly) to what should be a linkage for a carb.  Is there any place that makes an after market linkage assembly.  I have an edelbrock intake manifold with a holley double pumper 750.  I want something simple that I can just bolt on, any suggestions?  Does anyone have a picture of there linkage?

Second, how close is the cooling fan supposed to be to the radiator?  I don't really want to fork out the cash for electric fans right now, but I can't get the fan to fit with the radiator.  I put a 440 in my charger, I think it is out of a 1970 truck maybe??? I put my cooling fan on, but then when I went to install my radiator, the fan would touch it, what is the deal with that?  Where exactly is the radiator supposed to bolt onto the the radiator support.  I only bolted it on at the top two bolt holes.  I have shop manual for the 68 Charger but it isn't helping in this situation too much so I thought I would see if someone with experience could suggest something?  Is there two different length cooling fans or something?  The car was originally a 383 so I think it is the fan from that motor?  I have no idea what to do.

I know I am going to have a lot more questions when I go to wire the motor.

Thanks

Does your fan have an aluminum spacer?   If so, you might try a shorter spacer.

:iagree:   & or sounds like you need a different fan clutch ,with a shorter shaft .   there are a few different ones available for different  combinations
Feel free to post any relevant picture you think we all might like to see in the threads below!

As mentioned above a shorter spacer should help with the rad clearance issues.  :yesnod:

An aftermarket throttle linkage might be the best way to go depending on how tall your intake manifold is. Magnumhp can fix you up.

What different fan clutches are available?  I just pulled my fan out of the car today to take a look at it and the clutch does have a pretty long spacer on it.  Is there a spacer anywhere other than on the clutch or do I have to find a new fan clutch?  How do those lightweight flex fans work?  Do they come with a shorter clutch?  Anyone know how I can shorten this thing up to fit for cheap?

Also in regards to the throttle linkage, my intake manifold is an edelbrock tm7.  My carb is a holley double pumper 750.  The gas pedal assembly is all there and the cable runs out of the firewall to where the carb should be.  In a box of parts I found an old bracket that mounts to the intake manifold and holds the cable.  In the 68 service manual it shows something that goes down along the side of the motor that appears to be on the outside of the firewall.  What is that?

Thanks for the help.

IRT to the throttle linkage, that part you're describing sounds like the throttle linkage itself(lots of people call it the kickdown linkage or transmission kickdown)

I'll try to find some threads on this site for you to read and see if that is it.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Based on those threads and all the pictures, I am missing the entire kickdown linkage.  Is there someplace I can buy the entire kickdown linkage and throttle linkage(springs and all) so I can just bolt it on without a hassle of trying to find all the parts?

Pretty sure Bouchillon sell reproductions.
BPEUSA.com  or BouchillonPerformance.com or 843-744-6559

Lokar only makes the cable type though.  I think Bouchillon is also reproducing the old stock style three piece ones in addition to making the cable type.

I bought a flex fan from jegs and a 1 inch aluminum spacer for it.  Fits perfect and has great clearance with the stock radiato and hoses.  Best part is it was under $45 with shipping and is a hell of lot cheaper and easier than electric fans.   Now onto my venture of choosing a kickdown linkage.
