Has anyone had any success restoring the color of their 3rd gen reverse lights? My passenger side is yellowed and I would like to match it to the clear one on the drivers side.

I have never heard of anything that will make them clear again.

I have a plastic polish called Novus. I've used it to remove scratches and restore dull plastic. Its amazing what you can do with it. You can make old safety glasses new again. I've never tried it on any yellowed plastic but I would give it a try.

Are you sure they're plastic Silver?  I don't know that I've ever heard of anyone offering a plastic one for the 2nd gens.

Right, my bad.  I forgot that the 68 ones are part of the entire taillight assembly.  I was thinking all three years had them in the valence.  Brain fart, sorry.

MeGuiars plastic cleaner and plastic polish work well too but yellowing is always a tough one.

E5 Charger

Thanks for all of the ideas. I have used the Meguiars Plastx plastic polish on the headlights of my Dodge Avenger, they were very cloudy looking and now they look like new again. I'll have to try it on the taillights, but I have a feeling the yellowing is in the plastic and not just on the surface. If anyone has that miracle cure please let me know.

Bob

I have used the toothpaste route. The grittier the better. Does a nice job. Don't forget to floss.

2Gunz

I use that orange hand cleaner with the grit in it to clean stuff sometimes.

But thats kinda a last resort. And you need to be really careful because it will

tear stuff up.

Could work, but use with caution.

E5 Charger

Thanks for all of the advice. I tried plastic polish and also toothpaste, both didn't help. Even tried a dremel with the polish. I guess the plastic yellows all the way through. Oh well, the polish did help with the fine scratches. Thanks again.
