Hey all

I know it's not monster.com here but heck, I'll try every option I got.

Altough I won't have a work permit for a few weeks I'm looking for a job in the autobody world.
Anything from collision to customizing and restoration. I have no trouble starting from scratch and proving myself.

I have about 15 years of experience. I can work an English wheel, nylon hammers and leather bag tricks and if need be can build body parts from straight sheet metal.

Since I just moved here, I only have experience working in Europe but that shouldn't be any different.
I can work with solvent and water based paints, can color match and mix on sight if needed.
Thanks to a ton of bad panel beaters, I had to learn how to do magic with bondo and since I usually do what the boss tells me, that is also an option ( altough I might try to convince you otherwise)   ;D

Of course I do have experience with a multitude of Euro and Asian cars and yes I know how to remove a BMW doorhandle without messing up.

I'm in Ann Arbor, about 45 minutes west of Detroit and altough I would preffer something close, I can't be picky. This isn't Europe where long distance is about 20 feet.....
So contact me and we'll talk.

If anyone wants to hire me privately to restore a car or something, that can be arranged  :icon_smile_big:

I really have no idea why I posted this here of all places but at least I kept you busy for half a minute  :nana:

Honestly my friend, with your background on European Cars, and working in european bodyshops. I'd try to go get a start at a high end European car dealership's auto body shop. I know those might be hard to find in Detroit, but there has to be one somewhere. Check for a BMW dealership. Then just talk to as many people as you can, and start networking. You should be able to find something.

Good Luck man.

With your experience you should be able to find something in th Ann Arbor area. Very trendy city and I would think it should not take you long to find a job. Good Luck  :2thumbs:

To bad your not here Doc. With your talent and skills. Starting pay for where I'm at now is about $1200. to 1500. a week, more money can be made if you work 6 days a week. Good luck to you there in Michigan. Welcome also again!  :2thumbs: :patriot:

Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

Yeah a Euro shop might be the best way to go, there's a few close to me but they don't have their own bodyshop. Maybe I should just ask them where they get bodywork done when a new car falls off the trailer  :D Hey that stuff happens...

No idea piggy but you'll know when you find tire tracks on your front lawn  :icon_smile_big:
Ideally I will find work where the boss let's me keep the charger there. That's how I did most of my cars in Belgium and you can't do better than restoring a car in a bodyshop . Nothing wrong with your own workspace but special tools cost a ton.

Hmmm maybe i should move to Alaska...I'll ask Em !   :icon_smile_blackeye:  :icon_smile_big:

Thanks fellas

Good luck Doc, I hope you find something to your liking soon.
How are you liking the states, btw? Was this a permanent move for you? (sorry if I missed a thread explaining your situation) :)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Thank you thank you, I'm liking it very much. I liked it when I first came here July 05 to be with Emily and now I've moved here to be with her permanently.....or until she kills me and runs off with my charger..nah j/k...I hope  :icon_smile_big:

I've decided to buy a dirt cheap car to get me to work and back, wherever that'll be, so I can save my money while I build up some history here. I have a perfect driving and credit record in Belgium but alas it doesn't mean anything here so I have to start from scratch.

I need to watch my spending a bit since getting all that paperwork in order is not cheap for either of us.

I posted about my move but only once, I have to limit my online time with this dialup connection and many threads I just can't watch, especially if there's big pictures involved so don't worry about it  :icon_smile_big:
