What does this abbreviation (MBL) stand for?

My dad and I are looking at our house plan or zoning plan.  Not sure which one it is, it's the one that tells where the water pipes are, and property lines.  Anyways, we see something that says "30' M.B.L."  We know it's 30 feet, but we don't know what M.B.L. stands for.  I think it is Minimum Baseline, but I doubt I am correct.  Also, if it does mean that, what does that mean?

Could be Minimum Building Line..in other words you can not build within that line.

Most utilty services (elec/sewer) have a easment distance. If in the future they have to dig up the line they don't want your house sitting on it, although usually you can pave over it. If it's 30' it's usually 15' on each side of the line.

I think it has somthing to to with maximam boundery line MBL.
It means you cant build anything past your MBL of 30 ft.

It's possible that several terms could fit that abbreviation, but it would be easier to figure out if we can see what it's referring to. I tend to agree with the idea about the location of where you can build, but would say the "L" is referring to "Limit". Can you explain, or show us (scan) where on the plans it's used? I've worked with a few different land surveyors & civil engineers, & unfortunately some of them have their own abbreviations & make things even more difficult.

MBL = Minimum Building Limit? Maximum Building Limit?

I did find this page.... http://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/Mensa+Belgium-Luxemburg .....but usually anything that pertains to a "Baseline" is for construction or land surveying, & more than likely won't be found on a Zoning map. (Not that it can't be)

I'll see about scanning it in tomorrow if my dad doesn't call the zoning/property folks.

I bet the call to the building dept would be the easiest.

Minimum Building Line is what they said.  They also said that the building cannot exceed more than 30% of the lot.  So now it comes to measurements and all of that good stuff, lol.  Thanks everyone
