drivetrain part III: need help on pulling the transmission. Trans guys?

so,
After a couple night sleep over the drivetrain/frontend rebuild I made up a plan.

I gonna need to pull the trans for rebuild in the Moper shop nearby. When the trans is out I can easily replace the engine mounts. Then everything goes back in. With new U-joint and straps.

I decided to get the enginebay repainting (and pulling the engine) after cruising season. The front is bad, so are the brakes, this the next issue.

This on a side note.

My questions:
a) when pulling a trans, do I need special tools or accessories?
b) when busy removing, any tricky stuff to keep a close eye on?
c) extra parts need tp order before reinstalling the trans (seals,...)?
d) any good links/pics that could help me and a my buddy to tackle this job?
e) someone have kinda checklist?

Thanks a lot guys, always appreciate your input!

I would say get it jacked up high and on jackstands.I have a lift that makes it alot easier.you'll need enough room to get it slid outfrom underneath.you'll need a 1 1/4" socket to hold the crank when you are loosening the flex plate bolts and to turn the engine over.mark one spot on the convertor and the same spot on the flex plate so it will line up easier when you put it back together.you will need a block of wood to protect the oil pan and another piece to protect the tranny pan also when you have a jack under them.don't let the engine hang from the mounts with nothing under the pan after you remove the tranny.might as welll put a new front and rear seal on the transmission while its out and change the filter, adjust the bands.get a service book if you don't have one.good luck
