Need 340 Information

Hey guys i need your help... I'm looking at a 69' 340 motor to put in my 71 Charger... I need to know how to determine how it is 340 motor... Where it says it in the casting on the block and what it should say... And is the the blosk going to be blue or orange orginally... If you have any pictures that would be nice...    Thanks Guys

Should be Orange and it will say 340 right on the block by the starter.Later on they were blue.

Yeah, it is cast onto the block, also, some of them were Red, good luck.

AND all 340 where 4bbls. Earliers squarebore and laters spreadbore. just esy to confuse thm with 360s LAs

I think LAs block identification pads are located just in front of cilinder one, right below the block deck

nice motor choice for that car youll be very pleased i have a 69 340 six pack motor in my 73 road runner my block was blue and i went with650 holley  :flame:

I painted my 340 hemi-orange.
Cars owned:
1968 Dodge Charger, 48k orig. miles, family owned since new.
Not a Hemi, a mini-hemi 340.
