Hello people,
I was woundering how you go abouts findingwhat cars are in the registry to date??
Any help would be awsome..

Thank you DODGE CHARGER

hemigeno

Which Registry are you referring to?  The one kept by Galen Govier?  There's not much chance of finding out if a particular car is or is not registered with him, although I guess you can always ask...

Neal_J

With Galen, you can always ask.  Getting an answer, however, usually requires $$$

There is a lot of confusion around the use and or missuse of what the "Chrysler Registry" is and what it means. Galen Govier runs and owns the Chrysler Registry. It is  his personal data base of of Chrysler vin's and sometimes fender tags and broadcast sheets that he has collected over the years. It has nothing to do with the records at Chrysler. This is where the problem and confusion comes from. Often cars for sale will say that they "are in the Chrysler Registry". I say, "that great", but who cares?  It does not change the car's value. Often cars for sale will say something like " my car is number 47 of 83 in the Chrysler Registry". I say "big deal"  it means nothing but the fact that Galen has a record of 83 of a certain model and yours is the 47th one in order by production dates.  Galen has the largest data base out there, but it is still a small percentage of the cars built. People treat his data as if it represents all of a give car's production data. Since it does not, most of the numbers that are given do not represent how rare a car is or how rare it is with a certain combination of options.

 :iagree:
"Production" numbers are what you should be concerned with. My parents still have a 1970 Chrysler 300 convertible that they bought brand new. It isn't in anyones registry and has only been registered with the DMV once in the last 22 years. It still exists and is 1 of 1077 "Produced"
Have you seen my old '69 Charger??

Galen Govier changed the name recently to the Galen Govier Registry. He has alot of info that the hobby gave him...and he charges $$ for the pleasure.  :icon_smile_evil:

I just checked his web site and there is no mention of the Chrysler Registry. What I did see is a new service called  "Galen's Registry Letter". And for an $11 fee you can send him your VIN and fender tag info and a copy of your broadcast sheet and or your window sticker if you have it, and in return you will receive a letter telling  you where your car falls out on his data base. I don't have any problem with that service as long as you understand what the numbers actually mean. He also states the this registry just tells you of how many are "known to exist". according to his data base. It is the car owners that in the past, who have made it sound as if the production number info that he gave then when they paid to be in the Chrysler Registry was representative of the total production of that vehicle.  Maybe this name charge of his service will end that confusion.

Isn't that awesome?  If I send him all the info on my car, and some money, he'll tell me how many other people with cars like mine also sent him money.  How cool is that?

Then he gets to, in turn, use your info to make another sell to someone else. Just Dandy!

Don't get me wrong, I am not a big GG fan, but he has spent a lot of time and I am sure money to gather this info, nothing is stopping any of us from doing the same thing.  He has worked hard to elevate his name to = Mopar knoledge, at least on #s.  Most of us rather than look up something would rather just go to this website and ask someone else, or call someone and have them look the info up for us.  I am guilty of the same things.  I have asked questions that I am sure I had read on here earlier rather than go back and look it up.  I have also answered the same questions for people many times on here or provided phone #s and web sites, that I grab from a MCG or MM Magazine sitting by my desk.  Most of the time I am pretty sure the people I am posting this info get at least one of these publications, and if not could find the same info by running a search.  I don't mind doing it, I like to feel like I have helped someone.  Just like people complaining over what someone is asking for a part, If you don't like the price offer what it is worth to you.  All they can say is no, if any of you are married I'm  sure you have been told that before.  If you don't think the service GG provides is worth the price, don't pay it.  I think his service is overpriced but I am to lazy to do all the work required to gain the info, so I will continue to be a novice in the hobby. :Twocents:

Wonder if he sells AMWAY as well(not that there is anything wrong with that).  Sounds like a pyramid deal.  How do I get in.
Gotta hand it to him, smarter than I am making money.

You must admit that GG is creative to make $$ out of the same information twice, from the same source!
-1971 Charger SE U-code 4spd track pack, one of 29...
-1971 Charger R/T 440 6 pack auto
-1961 Chrysler 300G CV, one of 337
-2014 BMW 435i M-sport

Wait until he puts a patent or TM on his name.  Everyone likes to use it in their ads and listings these days.

Hey GG can i get a cut off my latest idea for you to cash in??

Yeah, i'm just jealous, I definitely have nothing bad to say about this gemtleman.  All just in fun :icon_smile_big:
