I considered it for a while - don't know much about reliability, but keep this in mind - even buying the least expensive parts available, using ebay, etc., it ends up costing about $1k more - with no other changes -than the same flat tappet.  I decided I could put that money elsewhere and get more desirable improvement :)

There is more maintenance with a roller cam....the roller lifters need periodic rebuilds based on milage and usage. The more agressive grinds will require some high end valvesprings to keep the valvetrain stable at higher engine speeds. Rocker Arms need to be high quality as well....fully rollerized on the fulcrum and tip.....The least expensive option is Harland Sharp that run ~ $600.00 a set. Pushrods also need to be sturdy....3/8in heavy wall.

It all adds up, but the upside is that roller cams make excellent power. The big question is whether or not you can live with the added cost and maintenance.

......... ( Ron)  / guys  ,  i had an idea there would be maintenance involved ...  reading between the lines then  i don't think  it would be good choice then as i am not building an all out race motor . another reason i was thinking a roller cam was , because as i have got the 440 apart again ,i thought   it would be a good time for a roller to greatly reduce the problems with the oil company's removing some of the  anti wear additives  in the oil.
thanks for you help / infomation guys it has been appreciated  :2thumbs:          .....
