Does anybody know how to repair an A/C heater swich. Its leaking all around  the copper pipe where it goes into the other bit of metal. This is the second one my friend has brought as he's last one was leaking in exactly the same place.

That's the heater valve and there have been a few threads about where to try and find replacements or to have them rebuilt.

From what I understand, the replacements are very difficult to find and from what I recall, NAPA sells a kit to repair/rebuild it.

To be more accurate, search this site for the existing threads and you'll find more detailed information.

:iagree:  ,  it is probably just the seals in side perished .  seal's are available from NAPA like (Shakey) mentioned
Feel free to post any relevant picture you think we all might like to see in the threads below!

That part was never really meant to be rebuilt.  But it can be done.  The seal mentioned in the previous thread is the one that goes between the copper tube assembly and the steel firewall plate.  And it is available from NAPA.  But the actual seal on the end of the plunger inside the tubes is not available.  Plus, it isn't easy to replace even if you had one.  I would carefully remove the unit, without damaging the capillary tube, and send it off to Jim in California.  Search other threads on here and you will find his complete name, address, and telephone number.  You will get back a nice "completely" rebuilt valve that will probably never fail while you own the car.  And it only costs something like $125.  Do it now while he is still alive and still has the replacement rubber plunger piece.  I don't think anyone else has these.  For example, the guys at Old Aire Systems in Ft. Worth told me that all they had was the gasket----the same one you get at NAPA.  And don't think replacing the NAPA gasket is easy.  You have to bend the copper ears up on the backside of the firewall plate and pull the tube out to do this.  You get about one shot at this before the ears break off.  And I can't emphasize too much about not damaging the copper tube assembly by overzealously tightening the hose clamps.  Original Chrysler clamps were spring types so I would make sure I use those with maybe a little sealer like copper coat.  Good luck.
