Well, after waiting (impatiently) over the last 5 weeks or so I finally got to collect the General from Southampton docks on Friday.

Unfortunately they had falttened the battery moving it around so i had to get a jump start from the fork lift driver. It soon fired up with that  :D
First shots

The next issue was fitting it on the trailer. Just squeezed on after removing the spare wheel carrier

Endured 5 traffic jams on the way home so took ages, but did draw plenty of looks

Took it down to the workshop on Sat & then for the MOT
Passed straight through & is well solid underneath

Got pulled over by th epolice on the way back - No number plates or tax on the screen
But they only wanted to look at the car - told me how good it looked & to take care of it
Sent me on my way

Now its sitting on my drive at home whilst i get the registration completed

More shots to follow as i get it legal

Loving it  :D  :D  :D  :D

Thanks to Dan for all his help & being such an honest decent person ;D

Just saw a story that London was going to become the greenest City in the world and were going to charge big fees to people with big polution spreading cars.  I thought of you as soon as the story aired.  I hope they have some kinda provision for collector cars.  I know in Illinois if you have antique tags, your car is exempt from emission test.

London is a nightmare to live in  - i only work here, but live in Birmingham (130 miles away)

If you have a gas guzzler - say my Ranger Rover even though its diesel they charge £25 per day if you enter the congestion zone between 7am - 6pm I think its £8 pre day for a normal car.

But it then costs £20+ for parking too
A right rip off  :flame:

Thankfully there is no charge where i live and the Charger is exepmt of road tax being older than 1973 ( again the RR is £195 per year) and no emmission test is applicable either

not a great country at all - thats why i`m trying to emigrate   :yesnod: :yesnod:

They're talking about starting the same type of tolls in Manhattan right now.  I actually think it's a good idea.  the subway system here is so great there is no need to drive and for those of us who have to transport equipment around the city all day it'll be a dream!  there's nothing more frustrating than being stuck in a trafic jam of needless cars
