A couple of years ago I remember seeing somebody reproducing the cover inside the trunk that covers the tail lights on 70's and I think 69's also.  Anybody know if they are still being made?

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

I think there is a fella in TN that offers them for just under $200.00 USD.

There was a thread similar to this a while back where I gave the same response and someone jumped in and provided the contact information.

RMC Components makes them for $189.  I got one and had to ship it back as he failed to mention that two different depth tail lights and covers were used.  He currently only makes the shallow version.  Personally, I had a bad dealing with him and he said "I was lucky to even get a refund as the item came back with box rash."  I politely informed him that however he received it was how I received it initially, lack of packaging and all.  FYI, they are a resto shop and had this piece produced themselves.  They sell under RMC Components but the resto shop is under another name also.

Thanks.   I think I'll just repaint mine again.

ive got 2 not new .... but originals so i can part with one if some one is interested in it ..anyone know what their worth?

Ghoste

Not because I'm looking for one, but are they shallow or deep style?

Charger_Fan

I was unaware there were two different styles. Aren't they a '70 only item?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

There were technically 3 variations from what the guy at RMC components told me plus they narrow and deep versions.  All 3 will fit in a charger but the daytonas supposedly had some extra material cut away, maybe for where the wing brace was to be able to remove the panel.  70 has the two tabs went over the floor brace but supposedly, were never screwed in due to lack of space to fit a screw driver in there.  I am only going by what the owner of RMC components told me.  Personally, he had a major attitude when I returned my tail light cover since mine is the deep version and they only make the narrow version.

And 4 versions if you count the one in the 66-67 cars.

daytonalo

I'm still lost , you said there are three stlyes, well can you break down which is which ??????????? Can you make it simple , the part they make , will fit simply what car ????????

Ghoste

I think it depends on your taillight panel Larry.  Is there an early/late build thing to the deep and shallow versions?

resq302

From what I can remember, there was a slightly larger section that was cut out on the end for the Daytonas in order to clear the wing brace.  The second was for 1969's which did NOT have the two tabs that went on top of the floor brace.  The 1970 style HAD the two tabs (which usually broke off since they were not screwed down at the factory due to lack of space for the screw driver to fit in).  Again, this is what I am going by from the owner of RMC components.  On top of this, there was a narrow and a deep version for the tail light housings which caused the cover to be deeper in the bulge into the trunk compartment.

I find it impossible to believe they made a special tail light cover for Daytona !!!!! I'm sure they took a stock one and hacked the shit out of it !!!!!!!! Does anyone know measurements of shallow and deep versions ?????? Larry

resq302

Larry,

Again, I am just going by what the guy at RMC components said.  He could also be talking out his arse.  I agree that it could have just been cut down to fit but who knows.

There was a thread about adding them to a 68 just a week or two ago and a couple of people posted pics of their 68's with the covers in.
