I was in their readers rides section in issue #2.....they sent me a few copies.  That was about 3 or 4 years ago I think.  Pretty nice mag.   What was it just a single pic?

Hmm using your photo to sell something without giving you any money? or even asking for permission? Not a good thing.

If it was an ad for the magazine itself considering that his car had been published with his permission it probably grants them (the mag) permission to use any and all photos in their advertising...
