I'm also of the opinion that the second generation cars look good in flat black. But I think that red oxide would look great too. Well I geuss really that body style looks good with just about any color on it

CB

you've had it polished right? I remeber a thread about polishing a base coat Charger. Looking good (from 20 feet away)

You and me both brother.   :bawling:

Of course the imperfect body, bent bumper and sun bleached tires don't do the combo justice.  :RantExplode:

:yesnod: I love how flat black really brings out the body lines even from a distance but.... as amazing as it looks on a Charger it also brings out any little ding as well, not to mention how quickly the car gets dirty :rotz:.

look ther is either a RAM   on the hood of that charger :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:

Actually it was a duck with a cigar in its mouth. It was cast form the same ones from the one in convoy. You can see them on ebay.

Whoa!  :o  Cool pic, this is about 1 mile from my house in Austin.  What used to be a 7/11 is now a cajun meat market.  Wish I would've caught that.

Daytona R/T SE

If I ever get around to building my Charger 500 clone, it will be flat black.

A few months ago I was experimenting with some black spray bombs on a piece of

scrap metal, The Rustoleum flat black really surprised me. Even out of a spray can

it laid out nice and even and flattened out great when it dried.

I thought... Man, I wonder if you could do a whole car with this

stuff...  :scratchchin:

Now, the latest  Hot Rod (August '11) has an article on how to flat black a car on

the cheap...

...using.... :shruggy:

...you guessed it... :scratchchin:

...Rustoleum... :2thumbs:

johnnycharger

I painted mine flat black and I love it. I used SEM. I would not use the rustoleum. I used it on my trailler and it goes on great, but soaks up water. The SEM beads the water off.

Out of necessity (Lack of funds) I blacked out the hood of my Cherokee with Eastwood's black "Rust Encapsulator" after doing some rust repairs on the cowl and scuffing light surface rust with 220. It's holding up very well, scuff and re-coats blending in when dry for spotting repairs nicely. It even withstood "Goof Off" removing tree sap. Flat black is heat hell in Florida but this stuff claims to be useable as a top coat and is workable so I'm thinking of getting a few of the cheap Harbor Freight HVLP guns and a gallon or two for old blue. The plan was to use white epoxy (To keep the heat down inside) but this stuff is winning me over.
