Well, I know of a local daytona that supposedly came with 440, 4spd and a 4.10 dana , super track pack .

Car is still local (always has been ) Original owner is still alive and he swears it had 4.10's in it new. I thought 3.55's / 3.54's were the lowest avail. Car was missing the entire drivetrain when purchased in the early 80's by the current owner and curently has a hemi,4spd 3.54 in it now

The code on the fender tag or buildsheet should tell you the original gear ratio 69-70 71 4.10 has a A32 A34.   A33 for 3.55 A31 for 3.91 A36 for 3.55

If the tags are legit,  have both A32 and A34 cars

4.10 was definately an option for Daytona's. I believe that Kerb's HEMI Daytona had the 4.10 origionally. And he is the origional owner of the car.

There are quite a few Daytonas with either A32 or A34 codes - I don't have my Fender Tag Log here at the house, but there are lots of them.

Also, I'm fairly certain you could get 3.23's in a Daytona, although I do know it wasn't recommended.  If no axle package was selected for an automatic-trans car, the 3.23 was the standard axle ratio.  I'll have to dig through to see if I have a record in my files of an example, but I'm remembering that it was possible.  There is nothing in my records that says you HAVE to get a performance axle package.

I was interested to read in a thread on the DSAC/Moparstyle forum that the Superbird apparently had no axle ratios other than the 3.54/3.55.  While I have a copy of the 'Bird's paperwork that sets a limit on the axle ratios to nothing "higher" than 3.54/55, I had always assumed that it meant nothing higher-geared (and therefore lower numerical ratios) than the 3.54/55.  From my way of thinking, 4.10s should have been available on the Bird, but apparently that is not the case.  Could be that everyone was confused and never ordered anything else??

There used to be a local petty blue 6 pack auto bird  , I am pretty sure it had 2.94's in it. It sure felt awlfully tall geared to be anything like a 3.55

granted I never crawled under it to ck , but it was a dog out of the gate but would litterly fly on top end

Bill,
The 3:54 (4-speed) and 3:55(auto) were the only gears available with Superbirds, thats probably what you were thinking about. I have seen a few 4:10 dana Daytona's, personally I think the 354/355 is the way to go on a Wing Car.

In my spreadsheet I have 23 Daytonas logged as having a 4.10 Dana axle...  15 auto's with A32 and 8 4-speeds with A34.  The vast majority are A36 or A33 codes, but you can see there are more than just a few 4.10s.

I also have not logged a fender tag yet which does NOT have a Performance Axle Package sales code on it.  That doesn't mean that they don't exist (and I think they probably do), it just means I haven't logged such a fender tag yet.

Well Gene, I know that one my dad's old daytona's wasn't a sure grip, when he got it. When he bought it, it had 2.76's in it. But it was origionally a 3.55 car.
