Opinions wanted on a 3/4 ton Lifted Dodge

I was looking at this truck and it is very clean.  It's loaded with leather, all options, lift, 36" tires.  It's a 2000, 3/4 ton, 4 door, V10, 97K miles.
He wants 15K for it.  I think it's a little high.  I can find 3/4 tons quad cabs with higher miles in the price range of 6500-7500, not as clean and no lift.  IMO, a lift like that with the tires and wheels is probably around 7K.  I'm not that familiar with the V10 that's in the truck, but I have heard that you put a lot of miles them without having to spend a ton on maintenance.
Here is a pic.

If you would want a lifted truck and would end up spending the money to do that along w/ tires, then it would be OK but still a little high for me.  The V-10 has great power and bad MPG.  97k on a tranny is close to the end of its life. Have the gears been changed?

what do you want to use it for?

Daily driver.  I'm getting rid of my SRT-10 and never buying a 2WD truck again.  I need the quad cab to haul the kids around.  The reason I want a 3/4 ton is the front axle is a/should be a Dana 60 which can handle the 36" tires without going through bearings like a 1/2 ton Dana 44.  Not really going to be towing much except 4 wheelers and small stuff like that.

I'm not too worried about MPG, my SRT-10 gets 10 MPG and only runs on premium.  The transmission life on Dodge trucks has always been a problem.   I've had 3 so far in mine and I went through one in my lifted 98.  I'm not sure on the gears.

The guys who drive those trucks are usually 5'5" 140 lbs. and have a bad case of small man's complex. Why not get a nice Dakota extra cab or quad cab that gets much better mileage, doesn't require constant steering corrections and can be parked in a normal spot at the grocery store?

There's hundreds (probably closer to a thousand) trucks just like that running around here. That price seems pretty much in line with our market (Utah). The rims, tires, lift & brush bar would cost about 3 grand, if not more.

I'd try to hit him at $13K, I bet he'd bite.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Be worried about MPG! A V-10 like that will get you MAYBE 7-8 mpg on the highway (and IIRC they require premium)! The lift will only make this worse! Between the lift, wheels and tires, and Road Armor bumper you're looking at probably about 3K. Also the trans is very near the end of its life at 97K. $15K is WAAAY too much for that truck IMO. I didn't pay that much for my diesel Ram. I'm sure that if you look you could find a nice CTD Ram or a MUCH lower mileage V8 truck. My truck (94 Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins) gets me about 18-20 mpg but driving it everyday gets old. I'm actually looking for a beater Neon or Stratus to daily drive. I wouldn't touch that truck for $15K especially if I were in need of a daily driver...

You've had 3 trannies in the SRT?  If so, are you pulling anything behind it and if so what kind of weight?
What don't you like about it, besides not being a 4wd?

Yes, 3 trannies in the SRT, only 17000 miles.  I don't tow anything with it.  I have started the Lemon Law process on it and hopefully it will be gone soon.  Besides it being 2WD, it has the worst turning radius of any vehicle I have ever owned.  You have to do the Austin Powers backup/forward/backup/forward to park it anywhere.

LOL, I'm not 5'5" and I don't have any complexes.  I looked at the Dakota's and have driven my dad's 05 4 door Dakota with the kids in it and there just isn't enough room when we make the 300 mile trip down to Iowa.  We make that trip at least 15 times a year and kids will be kids, when they have to sit right next to each other, they can't help but hit each other and bitch about each other that one of them is sitting too close to the other.
