Both within just a few months of one another. I suppose a lot of you may, or may not know their names, (or may or may not care) but since I've been a big King Crimson fan since the 1970's.....

Drummer Ian Wallace died this morning, (age 64) & bassist Boz Burrell last fall (age 60). I knew Ian Wallace had played early on with King Crimson, but the list of other people & bands he played with over the years was amazing. I had never been able to see him perform, but thought that I would have a chance with several of King Crimson's members having formed the band "21st Century Schizoid Band". Boz Burrell was another early member of King Crimson, & one of the founding members of Bad Company. It's sad to see yet another musician that isn't with us anymore.

Wallace had also played with Bonnie Raitt, Ry Cooder, Larry Coryell, Lonnie Mack, Peter Frampton, Robben Ford, Joe Walsh, Warren Zevon, Eric Clapton, Brian Eno, Keith Emerson, Roy Orbison, Jackson Browne, Jon Anderson (Yes), Stevie Nicks, Steve Marriott, and Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Procol Harum, &The Traveling Wilburys.

Here's the small piece from Robert Fripp's site:

Ian Wallace Has Died

:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Feb 22, 2007

Ian Wallace died this morning after losing his long fight against esophageal cancer. Margie's post reads "It breaks my heart to tell you all that Ian left us this morning. He slept through the night and was, to my mind, very comfortable. He was still fighting I asked him to let go and fly away...and he did."

Piece on Boz Burrell:

Sid Smith reports over at DGMLive.com that former King Crimson vocalist and bassist Raymond "Boz" Burrell passed away yesterday at his home in Spain from a heart attack. (See the related news link http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release...ease_id=165889)

In addition to King Crimson, Boz was well known as a founding member of the band "Bad Company".

As a member of King Crimson, Boz Burrell was originally drafted as vocalist, but when a bassist was needed and no other could do, Boz unleashed, under the instruction of Robert Fripp, wonderful untapped talents as a bass player which were brought into the forefront of his career as a musician.

Certainly our prayers and condolences are with his family during this difficult time.

An era of musicians that will be hard to duplicate and they are leaving us too soon.

Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

:iagree: - with both!

I miss those days and try to catch any and all concerts I can with the 'old' rockers'. I remember King Crimson but never saw them or anything.

I've seen Bad Co several times going back to the 70's and each time they rocked!

Next month I'm going to Clapton!!!!!   :boogie: :boogie: :boogie:

Wow,
I grew up on Crimson. They were the Prog Rock Pioneers. Saw them a few times here in Cleveland. Sad news.

You are gonna be blown away. When we saw him a couple months ago, he let Doyle and Derek Trucks get some serious solo time. What a night. 3 guys dueling away and all three of them kick ass.

He did "Motherless Children". I haven't missed an EC tour since 1984 and I have never heard him do that live. AWESOME.
