As for our positioning. Remember that every show we start with a clean slate. At the end of last nights episode we came in 4th (I think)... all the teams that got the time bonus came in ahead of us.

The tank under the hood is an Accusump Pre-oiler unit. Basically as soon as you turn the key it injects 3 quarts of oil onto the motor so it is pre-lubed before start-up. Works out good - also works as an oil reserve system.

Cool, Thanks Mike.  Sounds like a pretty good system to have just in case...

I can't wait to watch these, getting episodes 1 and 2 off the internet, but haven't found 3 and 4 yet...sucks not having TV at home.

And yet, Mike's car breaks down, and he diagnoses the problem before ever leaving his passenger seat, fixes it losing *10 minutes*, and finishes in a respectable position.  We need a "props" smiley :P

meanwhile, olds guy drives by, talks crap, talks more crap about being two-faced, but he was the one trying to buddy up to the guy - how much you wanna bet he never said ANY of that stuff to his face?  But wait, wouldn't that be "two-faced"??

"Hey, pot! It's kettle..."
:P

that's a good point,  a lot of how things seem is the editing and order of quotes,   the TA guy fixed a tranny hose in ten minutes, so what, doesn't mean he isn't two faced,   the olds guys are funny to watch IMO, accept the TA girl is pretty so I don't mind watching her, but her dad I don't have anything good to say about, so I won't say anymore,    "You shoulda got an Olds, buddy."   come on, that was sort of funny, wasnt' it?

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

defiance

I don't know why I said "mike" there ... Can't remember the TA guy's name now.  But anyway, I'm just saying, he's a good driver, obviously KNOWS that car, and what's wrong with stirring the pot a bit?  They're all cool with each other from what we see, but come on, they're still competing AGAINST each other.

Mike, I can't recall if this was mentioned when the show first aired - - but....We know its 200 grand for first place - what prize (if any) is awarded for second or third place?

hey mike and jim. this is shelby, jackie's 16 yr old daughter. my mom got me really into the show. my mom said a few weeks ago mike was wondering how the show portrayed him? well mike, id have to say the show makes some of people look like major jerks, but u and jim are not any of those people. u guys actually seem like u work together well. im so glad u guys didnt have to do that glass challenge. i would've cried if i had to see any mopar muscle car go through glass. i was also glad to see you guys moving up and to see how good team chevy did. i honestly do not like reality tv, but i think this show has more "real" people in it. o and when i saw the olds in first i was kinda disappointed. i dont hate them or anything, i just dont want to see them win. theyre obnoxious... and as for paris and what he did to u, wow what a dickmove. :rotz:

Great job on that first leg, Mike  :yesnod:  I have been thinking that the amount of fill-ups is what has been slowing you down, and it looks like that is probably right, as the muscle cars all did well on the shorter legs when fuel wasn't as much of an issue.

It sucks to hear that Paris was such a jerk about your car...I might have killed him anyway :icon_smile_big:  That team has really fallen apart quickly.  I was glad to see the TA advance again, but I REALLY wish team Olds was out.  Those guys seem to have cornered the market on stupidity, and with the new found success in the last show, they are coming starting to get really arrogant.  There is nothing more annoying in the world than an arrogant idiot :brickwall:

My questions for the week (as always):

1.  What was the most enjoyable leg of the trip up to this point in the rally?

2.  Did everyone really hate Paris and love Dirty, or was Dirty blowing smoke?

3.  How many gallons/how much money had you used of fuel up to this point?

Check this out (from the internet)

I hope that you can help me. I am a casting director in LA, and am currently casting a SpikeTV reality show called Bullrun. We are looking for people that are extremely interested in cars and/or trucks. They need to love to drive them, and know how to work on them. We want people that are very knowledgable about cars/trucks, love to have a good time, and love a good competition!! We are looking for one of our teams to own a lowrider. A team that is totally into lowriders and would like to show it off on SpikeTV! Our search is not limited to lowriders though, so if you have a different type of car then we would consider you as well.

If you are not interested personally, then could you please forward this information to anyone you may know that fits the bill?

Bullrun is based on the international automotive rally of the same name. Our show will focus on teams of real people who love their cars. The teams will compete in a car rally over the course of approximately two weeks in mid-late October. Expenses will be paid, and, as with most reality shows, there will be a cash prize for the winner of the rally. Our website link is Welcome to Bullrun Casting.

Also, if you could respond to let me know you received this email, I would be appreciative.

Press Release:

Spike TV is looking for drivers and their cars to compete in Bullrun, Spike TV's reality show that will redefine the American car rally!

Are you a fearless driver with a badass car? If so, Spike TV wants you to drive hard by day and party hard by night during this once-in-a-lifetime television event! Guys and Girls, you need to go to Welcome to Bullrun Casting and tell us all about you and your car. Spike TV's Bullrun will be an epic journey, an action packed adventure and a ride to remember for those lucky enough to compete.

If you are 21 years of age or older, have a passion for your car, know someone who could be your co-pilot and have a good driving record, please go to Welcome to Bullrun Casting.

Ok, I give points to the TA guy when he told team Honda the time bonuses were gone, he didn't have to tell them, that was cool of him.
The Lotus guys wouldn't tell them.
And I try to remind myself that everyone is prob. tired and the stress of the competition and all that is on everyone, I am sure the show makers pic out certain quotes to put on air to stir the pot, who know, we are getting a fraction of conversations of all the racing.  Can't hold anything against anyone for some single comment here or there under the conditions,
I'm just saying the Olds guys are entertaining to watch is all, sometime they are idiots, sometimes they say cool or funny stuff too.  I mean, they are from New York, so they are cool just because of that is some ways,

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Do we have a DAVE in Port Richey??  Or did you mean Steve??  Haha..  What area are you in at Circuit City?

ha...     i have 2 more hours to wait until i get to watch it...        oh well...        im still slaving away at work...

Mr. Angry...      a question got you.  Looking at your pictures it seems you're not running the Hotchkis rear sway bar...      are my eyes that messed up or are your really not running it ?   any reason why not ?

Fuel milage...     too bad my car isn't done...    that way i could get you a fuel milage report on a 68 Charger with a EFI stroker with an OD trans and 3.55's...
My buddy has a 1971 challenger with an edelbrock pro-flo with a OD 4-speed and 3.55's and he's claiming between 20-22mpg on the highway...

Mike and BIG Jim,  I've got a quick question for you.

It seemed like this week that there was no evidence of Team Charger and Team Chevy working together as in the past.  And yet, both of you had your best finishes to date?

Had you noticed that as well?  Any idea why that would be?  I assumed that Team Charger had a better run because the runs were short and you probably didn't have to stop for gas.

Also, when they show the handout maps on the T.V., they "add in" a bunch of alternate routes in red.  How much detail was actually on those maps they gave you?

Thanks man!  Great showing this week!

I also noticed Ceaser and Ralph lost their dust masks this episode...did they get a chance to fix the fumes inside the car  :icon_smile_question: :icon_smile_question: :icon_smile_question:

I noticed the 57' was breathing a little easier myself. I figured they stopped somewhere and bought a pile of 3/8 gas hose and made a trunk seal..  :D

I also have a question.  Are the cars "Locked Down" for the night when you guys got done for the day.  It sems to me that often the teams are looking for a gas station very shortly after they start in the morning.  It looks like you were able to work on them in the "Corrall", but you couldn't take em out and gas em up?

NYCMille

Hey Guys -

First off... Shelby, welcome aboard to a great list, I'm really glad your enjoying the show and I'm right there with ya', I would've cried too if I had put my Charger through that plate glass (and don't worry, I don't like reality TV either!)

Ok Volk68 - questions:
1.  What was the most enjoyable leg of the trip up to this point in the rally?
- Probably driving down the Oregon coast on PCH... the scenery was simply breathtaking and I had a feeling while doing that drive that this was truly a once in a lifetime experience, it was simply amazing.
2.  Did everyone really hate Paris and love Dirty, or was Dirty blowing smoke?
- Dirty wanted to be everyone's friend and Paris was more of a competitor... Dirty was easy to get a long with, Paris was on a mission to win and kept to himself which is why they clashed.
3.  How many gallons/how much money had you used of fuel up to this point?
- Man... I have no idea as far as how many gallons... cash wise, we probably still had over half the cash left.

LL1 1967 Coronet: I think that may be an old post. There is information on the Bullrun Website but I don't think there is anything official as of yet for next season.

Rolling_Thunder: We actually run an Addco rear sway bar - I believe it's a 1" bar. Hotchkis has discontinued they're rear bar so Addco was the only choice I had at the time. Front bar is an 1 3/8" hallow hotchkis unit though.

Dave22443 - no fill-ups on this leg... it was niiiice. As for the maps, the show maps were just that, show, we had our atlas in the car and that's what we used to navigatie. I also, if I am not mistaken believe the Mexicans had replaced the gaskets... not sure though.

Bluestar - yep, all the cars were locked down at night and guarded by security. Putting gas in the cars was only allowed during the run.

;D

I'm betting that's where the hotel was. :P

Mike said they didn't sleep in those tents all the time so my guess is that the show provided lodging and transportation to a local hotel. Those places where the checkpoints are look pretty desolate (most look like abandoned airports) so I doubt they have a hotel on site. I could be wrong of course. I bet if you lose enough money the casino will give you free shuttle service from anywhere. ;)

I wonder why the TransAm could slide out while going around the pylon but looked like it was on rails when it came time to hit the glass. Maybe the car was thinking "no way pal". I think you'd have to be a fairly talented drifter to break the glass with a pole sticking straight out the back like that. You would need to almost stop and then do a donut but that would cost time. No way I would cram into it broadside in any of my cars (well, maybe the Suburban).
